In the storage area at MASDC. A row of former USAF C-47's.

This tail section of unknown origin is on display to represent the C-47 that was chartered by the de facto Indonesian government for carrying medical supplies during the National Revolution. On 29 July 1947 the airplane was shot down by a ML-KNIL (Royal Dutch Indies Army) Curtiss P-40 Warhawk fighter. The aircraft went into a dive, first crashing into a tree then into paddy fields in Ngoto, Bantul. Dutch authorities claimed that they had not been informed of the flight and that the aircraft carried no Red Cross markings. The surviving rear fuselage, shown in the photo on the wall, was all that remained in one piece, but has since been lost.

Identity unknown

The Israeli Air Force base at Tel Nof near Rehovot had a number of preserved aircraft on display inside the main gate to the base including this Douglas C-47 wearing the serial number 59. A number of the aircraft at Tel Nof were later moved to the IAF Museum at Hatzerim AFB. The version and actual ID of this C-47 is not known as well as its current status. It does not appear on recent lists of preserved IAF C-47s.

The Dakota is operated by Rico Taxi Aereo and is captured at Rio de Janeiro Campo dos Afonsos. This is the former PP-CDM, N69031, 41-38734. FAB C-47 2024 can be seen in the background.

This aircraft was reserialled TTD-6023 and then TED-6023. It is now preserved in Mexico City, but its identity remains unknown.

The identity of this C-47, of which the remains were noted dumped at the airfield of Bogota in the 1990s, remains unknown. Possibly c/n 9923 ex-USAAF 42-24061 which went to Colombia in 1949.

This Israeli Skytrain carries a serial on the rear fuselage, just right of the roundel. Unfortunately it is partly hidden behind a taped cloth, and the remaining numbers are very hard to read. Close examination of the original photo appears to show a "4" to the left of the cover cloth, and "28" to the right of it. Only one Israeli C-47 is known to match this, namely 4X-528 which was reported in the UK in 1954/1955 on delivery to Israel. This photo may have been taken during that delivery flight. No c/n is known for this 4X-528, and all in all the identification of the aircraft in this photo remains highly uncertain.
