Built in 1943 for the RCAF, serial 9814. Served at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Torbay, Newfoundland. Stored in June 1945. Sold through Charles H Babb Co to Shell subsidiary Nederlandsch Nieuw-Guinea Petroleum Maatschappij (NNGPM). Delivered via Oakland in December 1946. The Canso was registered until August 1949. The photo source gives the date as 1953 which is highly unlikely. Another photo shows this aircraft on the water at Steenkool (now Bintuni), Bird's Head Peninsula, NNG. Photo from: Wereldmuseum

Given USN BuNo 46595 in 1943, this Cat was demobbed as N9501C but by 1963 was operated by Panair do Brazil (for oil company Petrobras) as PT-AXM. In February 1963 it joined the Forca Aerea Brasileira with s/n 6551 designated as a C-10, continuing operations in the Amazon. Ferried to Fort Lauderdale in by March 1984, it flew on to the UASFM in July, the nose gear collapsing on landing at Wright Field. By 1988 it was presented as OA-10A 44-33879 of the 2nd Emergency Rescue Sqdn in the Pacific Theatre with a 'Snafu Snatchers' logo on the right side and mission marks on the left

The early Catalina NC777 Guba (I) was bought by the USSR (URSS in French) to search for the airmen of URSS-N209, commanded by Hubert Wilkins. The photo source says the image may have been taken on the Mackenzie River near Aklavik, NT, but another source suggests search missions were flown from Coppermine (now Kugluktuk in Nunavut). Wilkins continued the fruitless search from Russia in January 1938. The flying boat became CCCP-N243. It was destroyed by gunfire from a German U-boat at Nova Zembla on 27 July 1942. NZ4013 sunk while under tow after it water-looped taking off from the Segond Channel during a rescue mission on October 11, 1944. The museum says the location of this photo is Emirau Island but there is no specific reference to a flying boat base there. The full photo does show a slipway. There was an airfield complex on the island that was used by the RNZAF. The island was captured from the Japanese in March 1944. Photo from: Air Force Museum of New Zealand

Ex USN BuNo 46457 and Brazilian AF FAB 6510, painted to depict a USAAF OA-10. After retirement from the Brazilian AF in 1981 the aircraft was acquired by warbird collector David Tallichet, registered N4582U and in 1983 flown to the USA. In 1984 Tallichet negotiated an arrangement with the U.S. Air Force Museum and the aircraft was flown to Kirtland AFB where it remained for several decades. The registration N4582U was cancelled on 2nd December 2016 as exported to the Russian Federation, and the aircraft was last reported in 2021 at the UMMC Museum in Verkhnyaya Pyshma, Sverdlovsk, Russia.

This aircraft is painted as RAAF A24-30 but it is in fact a composite aircraft put together from hulks found at various farms in Australia. The fuselage is from RAAF A24-38 (cn 1097 - formerly an instructional airframe at Lake Boga), the cockpit section from Dutch Navy Catalina Y-72 or Y-76, and the wings are from an unidentified PBY-4.
