Ex NC23V of Standard Oil of New Jersey, which was apparently used in Venezuela. The NNGPM oil company was a consortium of subisidaries of Shell, Standard Oil of New Jersey (Esso) and Standard Oil of California (Texaco): the Bataafsche, Nederlandsche Koloniale and Nederlandsche Pacific oil companies, hence the aircraft name Bakopa. Seen on Yapen or Japen Island, Netherlands New Guinea. Scrapped in 1940. Registration reused on a Catalina in 1946. Photo from: Wereldmuseum

Built in 1943 for the RCAF, serial 9814. Served at Yarmouth, Nova Scotia and Torbay, Newfoundland. Stored in June 1945. Sold through Charles H Babb Co to Shell subsidiary Nederlandsch Nieuw-Guinea Petroleum Maatschappij (NNGPM). Delivered via Oakland in December 1946. The Canso was registered until August 1949. The photo source gives the date as 1953 which is highly unlikely. Another photo shows this aircraft on the water at Steenkool (now Bintuni), Bird's Head Peninsula, NNG. Photo from: Wereldmuseum
