A busy flight line of the day that 56(Reserve) Squadron relocated at RAF Leuchars from RAF Coningsby. The aircraft arrived in rather poor weather conditions, but a brief spell of hazy sunshine late on in the afternoon made up for it.
43 Squadron F3 in Q fit taxies out for departure. This particular aircraft was lost in a mid-air collision at night with another F3 in October 1995. Both crew members ejected safely and were picked up by RAF Sea King 60 miles off the Northumberland coast. ZE210, the other F3 involved, managed to land safely back at Leuchars but due to the extensive damage sustained, it was not repaired and was eventually scrapped.
