Photo dated from Ansett's Porterfield VH-UVH (background) still wearing its race number (25) from the December 1936 Brisbane-Adelaide aircraft. The Envoy was cancelled from the register in 1951 but may not have flown after1945.
Ansett Airways adopted Braniff's livery rather than repaint undelivered aircraft originally intended for the US carrier. It remained the livery following the merger with ANA in 1957 until finally replaced in 1969. Braniff had changed its livery several times by then, sometimes boldly.
Sold in the US as N8421H in May 1962. The bus is a Flxible Clipper (Flxible, no first e) an American design built under licence by Ansett for its Pioneer long-distance bus company and for use by the airline. Ansett photo.
