Lost on January 15, 1994 when being ferried from the US to New Zealand. It was flying from Hilo, Hawaii, to Tahiti, when engine problems forced the aircraft to divert to Christmas Island. However, its heavy fuel load meant it could not maintain altitude and it had to land on the sea. N5404J sank 4 hours later. The seven people on board were rescued.

Ex RAF. Brought to Australia from Japan on the HMS Vengeance in 1946 with two others and sold on the civilian market. The Lycoming engine was replaced with a Gipsy in the 1960s and the rear AOP glasshouse replaced with a shadier civilian rear cabin. Withdrawn from use in 1967. Restored to the register as VH-CKD in 1969. The rear glasshouse was reinstated at some point but at the time of upload it retained its Gipsy engine.
