This 1978 Piper Aztec was operated by Contact Air 1978 - 91. The aircraft also flew with Lockhart Air Services (1991 - 94) and Gold Belt Air Transport (1994 - 97). Last with Airventures Aviation, the aircraft was lost on November 12, 1998. Landing at Toronto Island Airport, the pilot was requested to do a left 360 degree turn for spacing. The left engine quit in the turn with the flaps and landing gear down. The left engine operates the hydraulic pump and gear and flaps could not be retracted. The pilot elected to ditch in Toronto Harbour and exited the aircraft uninjured as is sank.
