The "N" was later removed (see here). Ex LN-KLV Nor-Fly. Purchased by a private individual early August 1976 and displayed on the spectators roof terrace. So it couldn't have long been there when I took this shot. When that spectators terrace closed down the aircraft was moved to the Visitors Park at Munich Airport and was painted as HB-IRN. Still there as of 2019. I took a photo of this aircraft still in active service as LN-KLV in July 1975 (see here).

Wartime C-47 44-76631 was transferred to the RAF as KN485 in April 1945. Briefly registered CF-GBG for ferry from Cairo to Montreal for the RCAF in 1951. The aircraft kept the original KN485 serial until the numbering system changed in 1968 and it became 12925. Disposed of in 1975 to become C-GWUG, the aircraft is pictured on lease to Air BC. It crashed into hill tops when flying freight with Kelowna Flightcraft / Purolator Courier during night VFR operations and low ceilings on January 13, 1999.

Operated by Centre National d'Études des Télécommunications (CNET) as 13142 / F-SEBD since 1964, until transferred to Amicale Jean-Baptiste Salis (AJBS) on 24 May 1980. In 1981 it was allocated registration F-BLOZ, but this was not taken up. In the mid 1980s it became a static exhibit at La Ferté-Alais, and in 1989 it was used in the movie "Suivez Cet Avion", painted with "Honeymoon Airways" titles. In the 1990s the C-47 was painted in USAAF markings with various fake serials, first 315111, then 315101 and finally as seen here, as 313142 (based on the c/n). In 2015 a new restoration project was started for this aircraft.

This Aéronautique Navale C-47 had been withdrawn from use by the mid 1980s, and was preserved at Nimes-Garons by 1986. It is seen here 23 years later, on display along the D42 road on the northwest side of the airbase in great early evening light. But it is no longer there. In early May 2010 the aircraft was dismantled and trucked off to Lorient airbase, where it arrived on May 6th. Following some restoration work and a repaint it had been placed on display at the base by September 2010.

Spectacular manoeuver by this French DC-3!

This aircraft had been 01977 with the USMC. After a long civil career, including survey flying in Canada as C-FYED, it returned to the US in 1989. The basic livery seen in the photo is the one it wore in Canada, with the addition of US roundels and USMC titles. The former serial has been incorrectly painted as 09177. N141U has since been reregistered N193DP and received a stylish civil paint scheme.
