This is from a cutting from the RAF Air Clues magazine which my Dad added to his log book. ' After completing a normal landing in a Javelin the pilot shut down the port engine, set the starboard at 50% rpm and taxied to the dispersal area. As he turned the aircraft into dispersal, the starboard main undercarriage collapsed.' This is my Dad's comment on the back of this photo 'Taxing at 10kts one sunny day.........' From my late fathers collection. My Dad was flying one of these aircraft. 50th Anniversary fly past of 64 Squadron Royal Air Force at RAF Tengah in Singapore back in July 1966. The squadron was equipped with Gloster Javelin FAW9R's. A year later the squadron disbanded and the Javelins were replaced in Singapore by Lightning F1's of 74 Squadron.

On static display at the first open day at the IWM Duxford facility. Visiting from A&AEE Boscombe Down. Made it's last ever flight back to Duxford on 24th January 1975 to become part of the IWM Collection. Current in 2023.

Built for the RAF as XH892 in 1958. Stored at Kemble in 1967. Preserved at Colerne from 1973 and allocated maintenance serial 7982M then to the Imperial War Museum at Duxford in 1976. Moved to the Norfolk and Suffolk Air Museum at Flixton in 1983.

No 60 Sqn in Singapore operated Javelin air defence fighters from July 1961 until April 1968. XH841 was the squadron's aircraft D for this entire period. Photo from: Imperial War Museums

Delivered to the RAF as XH768 in 1959. Used as ground trainer 7929M at Cranwell from 1967. Moved to Southend for preservation in 1971. Sold after the museum closed in 1983 and moved to Monchengladbach, West Germany then to Museum Parco Tematico dell 'Aviazione, Cerasolo, Emilia Romagna, Italy in 1995.

When Rhodesia unilaterally declared independence from the UK on 11 November 1965, Rhodesia's young neighbour, Zambia, felt threathened as Rhodesia had retained the majority of the Central African Federation's fighting power in the shape of Canberras and Hunters. As a response to Zambia's plea for help, the RAF sent Javelins from 29 Sqd then based in Cyprus to police Zambian air space from Ndola in the Copperbelt Province. XH892 was one of the aircraft deployed to Ndola during 1966. One of the Javelins that was deployed was written off and ended up in a playground in Ndola.

Delivered April 1959 and used by Armstrong Siddeley for development of the Sapphire SA.7R engine. Retired to storage at 27MU at Shawbury and sold as scrap in March 1965

On external display in the early days of the Historic Aircraft Museum. Sold in the Phillips Auction of the Historic Aircraft Museum contents on 10th May 1983 for £1000 and moved to West Germany in August of that year.

Made its final flight on 24th January 1975, when it flew to Duxford on delivery to the Imperial War Museum for display. Current in 2022.

Gate guard at RAF Innsworth from 23rd August 1967. Allocated maintenance serial 7938M. Moved to nearby Staverton on 19th May 1993. Current with the Jet Age Museum there in 2022.
