This Javelin had a short service life following delivery in January 1960 to 85 Sqdn before being stored with 27 MU at RAF Shawbury in March 1963. In February 1964 it had maintenance serial 7829M allocated for use by 2 SoTT at RAF Cosford before joining the Newark collection in 1981. It is the only FAW.8 surviving worldwide

Delivered to the RAF as XH992 in 1960. To Halton for use as ground trainer 7829M in 1964. Transported by road to the Newark Air Museum in 1981.

Arrived with the museum in August 1981 and holds Significant status within the National Aviation Heritage Register.

The Javelin was a magnificent looking Delta winged fighter. This example is preserved in the packed new hangar at the Newark Air Museum.
