The sole N.2002 naval fighter first flew on 16 December 1949. Handling was good, but top speed was only 815 km/h (506 mph). Following a crash, it was rebuilt with a 'lip' above the air intake to house a small radar. In June 1953, the N.2002 'began to be used to test rocket-assisted take-offs using two rockets installed underneath the fuselage. The following month it demonstrated them at the Paris Air Show, but it only made occasional flights afterwards.' The tailfin is preserved at Lyon - Corbas. Only 147 Brigands were built. Intended as a replacement of the Beaufighter after World War II, the type was modified as a light bomber. This example served with 84 Squadron. It is probably seen here at Bahrain or Sharjah en route to the far east. It was destroyed on 19th June 1951 at RAF Tengah, Singapore, when it crashed on approach following an engine failure which lead to the grounding of the type. The Pilot bailed out and survived, but the navigator was killed

Speaking about wear and tear... this Sea King clearly shows it has a tough time over war-torn Afghanistan. It just landed from a mission and returned to its parking spot at Kandahar. ZG821was sold (as one of seven) to Pakistan and officially handed over on 25 May 2017. Some were intended to use as spare part, but ZG821 was planned for active duty with Pakistan. The tie-up to its new Paki serial (19?) is not clear.
