Carries markings of CAF and Consolidated B-24 Liberator under starboard horizontal stabilizer. Shows "N12905" on port vertical stabilizer, and "2905" on starboard vertical stabilizer. Painted in colors for 98th BG.

Built at Willow Run as 44-50206 on 5 Dec 44, this B-24L was ferried under Lend-Lease from Montreal to Bamrauli in June 1945. Received by Air Command SEA, it was sent to No. 99 (Madras Presidency) Sqn at Dhubalia. Detached to Cocos Is, the B-24 made shipping strikes, bombing runs and SAR to Java, Sumatra and Burma. At the end of the war RAF B-24s were dumped at Chakeri. Refurbished by HAL and flown by the RIAF, the bombers equipped No. 5, 6 and 16 Sqn. The IAF was the last and longest user of the B-24 from 1948-68. This B-24L HE807 from No. 6 Sqn "Dragons" was donated to the RAFM in 1974.

The CAF decided that this was a good time to also replace the flight control cables that connect the pilot's yokes and rudder pedals to those control surfaces. The work was expected to take at least five months.

One of 31 aircraft on display at the Lackland parade field. For 43 years (since 1956) the museum had the real B-24M 43-51228 on display, the last B-24 on active service in the USAF, but in June 1999 it was traded with the American Air Museum and shipped to Duxford, UK. At Lackland the Liberator was replaced by this full-scale replica of B-24M 43-51228 "The Blasted Event". It carries no serial.

First delivered to the USAAF as 44-44175 in September 1944, this B-24 was passed straight on to the RAF as Liberator GR.VI KH304 that November. The British abandoned many Liberators in India at the end of the war, India putting several back into service after independence and using them until the late 1960s. After storage at Chakeri this aircraft was assigned the serial HE877 by the Indian AF in 1948. In March 1969 it was ferried from Poona to Tucson via the UK. Now displayed with Indian markings on the right side, with the left in the 1944 colours of the 446th BG, Bungay, Suffolk, England.

Built as 44-44272, served with the RAF as KH401, then the Indian AF as HE771. Sold in USA as N94459, painted as "42-50551". It is seen being prepared for some painting during its stay at Duxford en-route from India to the USA which took a couple of years. Displayed at the Fantasy of Flight in Florida.

Ex AL552 with the RAF. Civilianised as G-AHZR in 1946 and registered as SX-DAB 10 Dec 1949. Cancelled 10 Feb 1951 and returned to the UK. To F-BEDS 29 Jun 1951 with Transports Aériens Alpes Provence. CofA expired 1 Jun 1954, stored at Marseiile. Broken up there during the 1960s.

Assigned serial 44-44175 as a B-24J but delivered to the RAF as a Liberator GR.VI KH304. SOC on 11 Apr 1946 and transferred to the Indian Air Force as HE877. On return to the USA allocated registration N7866 and delivered to the museum at Pima for display' The opposite side the aircraft was painted in USAAF colours with its original serial 444175.

Built to USAAF order as 44-41956 but delivered to the RAAF in 1945 as A72-176. Disposed of for scrap in 1948, the fuselage of this Liberator was recovered from a farm near Sale where it had been since 1952. Restoration commenced in 1988 and considerable progress has been made. The airframe is substantially complete inside and out (although the tailplane and fins are stored separately for the time being). It's a big beast and the B-24 Memorial crew have done a magnificent job.

B-24s were used to haul fuel to Kunming in September 1944. On this date, 6 September 1944, twenty-four B-24s flew in about 34,000 US gallons according to the Pacific Wrecks website.
