Evidently Westates Airlines operated as a Trans World Express affiliate for a while. A press relese dated 11 October 1991 says flights would start on 27 October.

A Convair 340 for United Airlines as N73129 Mainliner Toledo in March 1953. To Frontier Airlines in 1962, the aircraft was converted to a CV580 in 1964. Acquired by Gem State Airlines (N117GS) in 1979, merged with local carrier Air Pacific to form Golden Gate Airlines (N73129) in 1980 only to shut down in 1981. Next with ERA Helicopters / Jet Alaska / Era AViation 1981 - 2003. Bought via Kelowna Flightcraft, Conair converted it to an air tanker, finally retiring in 2021. Stored at Red Deer, AB for Buffalo Airways in August 2021, who bought three Conair CV580s for their engines and propellers.

Built as CV-340

With history going back to 1948 with Trans Australian Airlines (VH-TAS), this CV240 had later registrations AP-AHS (Pakistan Internal Airlines), PH-NLP and PH-EUT (Fokker operating for Euravia), N559R (Beldex Corp) and N396GC (Faberge Inc). Faberge allowed free use of the aircraft to retired actor Cary Grant when he became a creative consultant with the company in 1970. Later stored, it became a project for California Air Heritage Foundation in 2010 which later floundered. The fuselage is currently stored at Shafter - Minter Field at the time of uploading.

Mainliner Chicago was with United Airlines 1952 - 66 as a Convair 340 registered N73118. Sold to Lake Central Airlines, it was converted to a 580 When Lake Central merged with Allegheny Airlines in 1968, it was re-registered N5840. Sold to Great Lakes Airlines as C-GDTD in 1976 and rebranded Air Ontario in 1981. The aircraft was sold in 1987 as OO-VGH, operated by European Air Transport for DHL cargo services. Retired in 1991, it was scrapped at Brussels by 1994.

Aircraft wears Eastern Air Lines livery but did not fly for EAL and was really owned by the Major League baseball team. The Dodgers used a DC-3 earlier. In 1959 the team shocked New York by becoming the Los Angeles Dodgers. Ties with Eastern Air Lines were not immediately broken, judging by Peter Gates' 1959 picture of N1R. Coming out of maintenance here in Los Angeles, this early Convairliner crashed on take-off from Palm Springs on a Las Vegas - Palm Springs - San Diego service on 13 February 1958. The right wing leading edge came off. The aircraft landed in the desert at high speed and hit some boulders. It caught fire and some of the 18 passengers were seriously injured. Last noted derelict at old Morelia airport in 1984.
