Being prepared for its trip to Europe for D-Day anniversary celebrations. Delivered to the USAAF as 42-23669 then to the RAF as FD879 in 1943 and operated in India. To the Pakistan Air Force in 1947. Registered as N2701A with incorrect c/n 33569 in 1952. Later to N42F, CF-IKD in 1955 and N103NA in 1993. Still registered with c/n 33569 in 2020.

Former registrations: 43-49533, 0-349533, T-35 (Argentinean Air Force), TC-35 (Argentinean Air Force), CC-CLL, CC-CLK, CC-PLU. Though the plane hasn't flown since 2015, it is kept in good condition and the family that owns it run the engines from time to time.

In 1975 Florida Airlines took over both Air South and Shawnee Airlines, because their route networks supplemented that of Florida Airlines perfectly. The two airlines continued to operate under their own names as Florida Airlines subsidiaries, but their combined routes were marketed as "The Connection". Some aircraft carried large "The Connection" titles, and often also the actual airline's name in smaller size. DC-3 N79B for example is seen here carrying small "Florida Airlines" titles on the nose. The Shawnee Airlines subsidiary was shutdown by the FAA in Oct 1977 and sold to Air Miami in 1978.
