TWA was the first owner of this Martin in 6.52, bought by Piedmont in 12.62 and by Southeast some ten years later. In fine form with the innovative rear airstairs lowered, this classic was near the end of her service with the Florida regional at the time of this shot. PBA went on to operate her from the end of 1975, then in late 1986 she found herself working down in the Caribbean until dbr by Hurricane Hugo on 17.9.89 at San Juan, PR. Having for many years believed that this C-47 was MT-201 (for which the c/n is unknown), it is now clear from a photo in the 2021 book "DC-3/C-47 in Latin American Military Service" that it is actually MT-202 which has a known identity. It was broken up eight months later.

The first production Hercules to be built, following two YC-130 prototypes, made its maiden flight on 7th April 1955 as a C-130A with the original blunt nose. The left wing burned off on the ground after a fuel leak on her third flight, but repaired. Converted to AC-130A gunship in December 1968, serving with a number of units in Vietnam (hit by a 37mm shell in 1971). Seen here in service with the 711th SOS; after withdrawal from duty in 1995, placed on permanent display at the USAF Armament Museum, Eglin AFB in 1996
