First flown from Les Mureaux on 30 April 1947, the Norazur seems to have been designed to meet a post-war French military requirement for a light transport capable of carrying ten troops. As F-WFAB, this prototype was flown at the 1949 Paris Air Show at Orly, but the twin-pusher design was given up soon thereafter. Photo from: Nationaal Archief (Netherlands)

To research the SO.4000 jet bomber, Sud-Ouest built the M1 glider and the M2, powered by a Derwent engine. It first flew on 13 April 1949, just before the 1949 Salon. This is probably the real thing, but it is doubtful if it was flown with the flush cockpit canopy seen here. Its outrigger wheels are not fitted. Also see photo 449819. This O-2 was built for James McKee in 1926 as the O-2BS (O-2B Special), civil registered as NC236, to make the first single-plane flight across Canada. Following his succesful flight, it was modified as a three-seater with a 410 hp P&W Wasp A engine and redesignated MO-2B. After McKee died in a crash the aircraft was taken on charge in Aug.1927 by the Canadian Air Force as G-CYZG (using civil-style G-CYxx registrations at the time) and was operated as a high-altitude photographic survey aircraft. In Jan.1930 it was struck off charge. Shirleys Bay seaplane base was opened as it was difficult to get seaplanes up the steep river bank to Rockcliffe base. It closed when this problem was overcome. The aircraft code cannot be read, but the red chevron on the top wing indicates the first three-aircraft section of VS-6 and the colouring of the lower half of the cowling should indicate the leader's second wingman, 6-S-3. The second of three MS.700 Pétrel aircraft at the 1949 Paris Salon. Apparently it is already to MS.701 standard here with Mathis G8-20, rather than Potez engines. The sign describes it as a 'colonial' light twin - not very woke! Photo 449819 shows the tail of this plane and ambulance markings. It made a tour of Africa in 1950. The small sign promises that the MS.700 prototype was to appear in the flying show at Orly on 14 May. The third airframe, flown in 1951, was the MS.703 with six, rather than four seats. Glenn Odekirk, on the left, revived the pre-war 'air yacht' concept with this luxuriously converted 'Landseaire' Catalina, ex BuNo 34045. Loomis Dean did a photo shoot for an advertorial in Life. The model in polka dot bikini sunbathes on top of one of the R-1830 Twin Wasps in some of the pictures. A dinghy was carried under the wing. Other amenities included a kitchen, a bar and a shower but everything must have been pretty cramped. N69043 was sold to a wealthy Brazilian and crashed at Picinguaba, Sao Paulo on 5 July 1953.
