Richard VanGrunsven built his first homebuilt, a Stits SA-3 Playboy. Later modifying the fuselage and adding a metal wing, it became the RV-1. There was tremendous interest in his third design, the RV-3 after it won the Best Aerodynamic Detailing award at Oshkosh in 1972. Van's Aircraft was founded in 1973 to produce kits. The RV-5 was a one-off design to evaluate several concepts including light weight and fuel economy. It was never intended for production.

This Caravan was delivered to Federal Express in July 1996 for operation with FedEx Feeder as N758FX. Now leased to Morningstar Air Express, it has been in Canada since May 2001.

While the US Navy rejected the UH-72 Lakota for ab-initio training, they received 5 aircraft in 2009 for the U.S. Naval Test Pilot School at Patuxent Naval Air Station, MD. This is the first one of the group that replaced the Hughes TH-6B Cayuse in the helicopter training curriculum.

Delivered to CP Air February 19, 1982, this is the former Empress of Honolulu. Converted to a DC-10-30ER before merging with Pacific Western Airlines, Nordair and Wardair to form Canadian Airlines in 1987. Withdrawn in April 2000 after Air Canada purchased Canadian, the aircraft was flown to Marana AZ, stored and later broken up.

The K-225 was an improved version of Charles Kaman's first helicopter, the twin inter-meshing rotor K-125 and first flew in 1949. Two were purchased by the US Navy and one by the US Coast Guard for testing. One was also evaluated by the US Air Force. 125477 became the first turbine-powered helicopter in 1951 when the Lycoming piston engine was replaced by a Boeing YT-50 turboshaft engine. The helicopter was donated to the Smithsonian in 1957.

First delivered to the US Navy, Sea King 149916 was bought by Carson Helicopters in 2003 and registered as S-61A N3173U. The helicopter was upgraded to an S-61T in a joint program with Carson and Sikorsky. This updated the machine with an airframe structural refurbishment, composite rotor blades and glass instrumentation in the cockpit among the improvements. It was sold to Siller Brothers in May 2011.

Tanker 498 gets fire retardant stains removed while standing down during British Columbia's 2017 fire season. Originally delivered to Eastern Airlines (N5525) in 1959, the Electra spent another 30 years flying freight before Air Spray bought it in 2011. First registered C-GKIL, Buffalo Airways cancelled the registration on their DC-3 C-FDTH to make it available to Air Spray in 2012.

Williams Lake is the location of the Caribou Fire Center , the BC Wildfire Service base responsible for the central interior of British Columbia. This Ecureuil is returning at dusk after a day of fire fighting during the province's worst fire season on record.

Originally S-2G Tracker 153579 with the US Navy, the US Forestry Commission got this aircraft out of storage in 1996. Converted to turbine in 2000 and used by CAL Fire.

Former Federal Express 727 freighter is part of the Airframe & Powerplant Maintenance program at Southern University at Shreveport LA (SUSLA). Donated to the University in 2008, it's pictured at the school's Aviation Technology Center at Shreveport Downtown Airport. The aircraft was originally with Air Canada as C-GAAW 1980 - 93.

Delivered to Air Canada on Valentines Day 1980, this 727 would be sold to Federal Express in June 1993 and converted to a freighter. Flown by FedEx until December 2008 when it was donated to Southern University at Shreveport LA (SUSLA). The aircraft is parked at their Aerospace Technology Center at Shreveport Downtown Airport in Shreveport, LA.

Operated its entire career from April 1964 with United until sold to Aero Controls Incorporated in September 1992. It was dismantled for parts at Sanderson Field in Shelton,WA.

Originally US Army 55-3302 first flying in 1956. To the civil market in the USA and eventually flying the BC Coast starting with West Coast for many years before returning to the USA in 1997. Converted to turbine in 1998.

This 737 would merge into the First Air fleet when NWT was bought in 1997. The aircraft suffered a hard landing at Yellowknife on May 22, 2001. Although able to taxi to the ramp with a burst nose wheel tire, it was deemed uneconomical to repair and written off.

C-47 42-92651 was delivered to the RAF as KG440 in February 1944. Returned to the US Air Force in July 1946, the transport became CF-GHL the same month. Registered to Ontario Central Airlines in 1974, it carried through name changes and a merger until it was sold to Air North in 1993 before returning to the USA in 1998 as N54AA. Sadly, the aircraft crashed while operating a freight flight for Caribbean Air on July 20, 2000. After losing an engine after take-off at Nassau, Bahamas, it failed to maintain altitude and crashed in a pine forest trying to return to the airport.

The very first DC-8 pictured with it's last operator. First flight on May 30 1958, Douglas continually upgraded the aircraft during testing. It was the first DC-8-50 series aircraft when re-engined with P & W JT-3C turbo-fan engines in 1960. Since it was built on production tooling, the airliner was able to be sold to Trans International Airlines in 1962. Chartered by Lufthansa and leased to Canadian Pacific Airlines before it was sold to Delta Airlines in 1967. Leased by AeroMexico 1979 - 82, the aircraft was finally parked in Marana, AZ. It was slowly stripped of parts and later broken up.

Taken on strength in 1988, this Hornet has been with the Blue Angels since 2010.

For the first decade, this Beech 1900 was a bit of a boomerang. Delivered to Cascade Airways as N128CZ in November 1985, it was returned to Beech Aircraft in November 1985 after the airline declared bankruptcy that summer. It was placed with Mesa Airlines , later re-registered N23YV before the aircraft was returned to Beech in November 1991. Next with GP Express Airlines registered N124GP from December 1989 - December 1996, it was returned to Raytheon Aircraft (new Beech owner). It has been leased by Suburban Air Freight since June 1997.
