Originally designated JM135 prior to delivery to the RAAF in July 1943, this combat veteran beaufighter was scrapped for spares after a tail-wheel collapse in Jan. 1944. Currently under restoration with TFC she will eventually be a composite of four ex-Aussie aircraft.

The Hudson was the military version of the Electra airliner and entered service with Coastal Command in 1939 on anti-submarine and reconnaisance duties. This particular aircraft was delivered to the RAAF in 1942 and actually was responsible for two Japanese kills during WWII. After the war this airframe was placed on the Austrailan register as VH-SMM and -AGJ before returning to the UK, firstly to the Strathallan Collection and then the Hendon Museum.

A65-102 was decommissioned and put up for sale at Perth Airport with a total time of 11870 hours. It was sold to Paradak Pty Ltd and delivered to Essendon on 22 August 1981 by the RAAF, using callsign VHPTS (not painted on the aircraft).

Arriving at Prestwick on a dull and wet evening this was the first visit to Scotland of an Australian Air Force C17 and it was here to uplift a Mini Submarine.

Ex USAAF 41-36975, RAF FH174. After service in Australia, latterly as VH-AGJ, it was flown to the UK in 1973, becoming G-BEOX and is now preserved at the RAF Museum at Hendon. It wears the South East Asia roundel omitting the red centre and has the SF code of 13 Squadron RAAF.

The Tower at Gatow has undoubtedly looked down on many C-47s over the years. This one had spent 32 years as a gate guard in front of the barracks at Gatow before being refurbished and placed on display to commemorate the Aussie participation in the Berlin Airlift. Based at RAAF Butterworth (Malaysia) from 23 Feb 1967 to 3 Jun 1980. Departed for West Germany 06 Jun 1980 and arrived there 11 days later. Placed on RAF registry as ZD215 for the final delivery flight to Gatow on 18 Jun 1980, because only British, US and French aircraft were allowed to pass through the Berlin air corridors up to 1989.

Developed to be ship-borne catapult launched this type was known as the Walrus in RAF and the Seagull V in RAAF service and went on to save the lives of many ditched airmen. This particular aircraft arrived Down Under in 1936 and served for many years before being transferred to the civilian register in 1951 as VH-ALB, before being repatriated to the UK in 1971 for restoration and eventual display.
