First registered in July 1969, with Aeroflot Yakutiya by June 1985 and transferred to Sakha Avia in April 1994. Registration cancelled 8th July 1997.

Delivered new 9th February 1961 as L-188A Electra N9646C for Western Airlines.. 1969 converted to L-188A(F) freighter, still for Western. August 18th 1972 LN-MOI Nordic Air. LN-MOI bought by Fred. Olsen August 20th 1973, an rr to LN-FOH August 28th 1973. Op. by FOF in ex Nordic colours until repainted to FOF colours second half of 1974. Repainted to these new white FOF colours in 1985. March 1988 it was painted black for the "Air de Cologne" project by SAS Cargo.. FOF colours 1990, flew with TNT stickers in 1991, FOF cs until wfu 01-1997. OE-ILA 03-1998, C-GLBA 07-2007. 60 years of flying.

One of the delicious ideas of SAS Cargo, to paint one of FOFs Electars in black and call it "Air de Cologne" just to mark Cologne as a new hub for Cargo operaions.

Ca.late 1944 or early 1945: TOS USAAF. 18 September 1947: TOS USAF. Ca.late 1950s or early 1960s: 605th Air Commando Squadron/24th Composite Wing, Howard AFB, Panama. 17 May 68: Davis-Monthan AFB, AZ for storage. 20 Mar 72: Flown to the Air Force Museum, where it was restored to represent a C-46 flying the "Hump" during 1944.

16 Nov '44: TOS USAAF. 1949: Air Force Reserve; used for crew proficiency training. 1950: Sent to Japan, and throughout the Korean War it operated out of Japan and Korea. 1955: TOS Japanese Air Self Defense Force with s/n 51-1121. By February/69 to after November/77: JASDF Flight Check Squadron. 1980: Alaska Rental and Sales with c/r N5579Z. During the next few years Alaska Rental and Sales swapped this plane for a C-118 through the Air Force Museum Loan Program, and on 11 October 1986 a dedication ceremony was held for this plane at the Air Command Park, Hurlburt Field, FL, where it remains on display.

N number 30000 has been worn by five different DC-3s. NC30000 was issued regularly in 1941 to a DC-3A (c/n 4809) which the Douglas company decided to keep as a demonstrator and executive transport. Douglas kept the mark and used it for the first remanufactured DC-3C (old c/n 13825, new c/n 43073) and then for the first Super DC-3 (c/n 6017/43158). When that one was sold, the reg of the plane in the photo, the second Super DC-3 (c/n 4122/ 43159) was changed from N15579 to N30000. Delivered to Pan Am as a seaplane trainer in November 1941. Bought by the US Navy in 1942, but leased back to Pan Am and allocated BuNo 99076 not applied. Had a long list of owners after the war.
