A historic machine gets recycled. This very first 300 series Intercontinental 707 was delivered to Pan American World Airways August 28, 1958 as N714PA christened Clipper Golden Eagle. Aeroamerica acquired the aircraft after a lease to Perfect Air Tours in April 1979 to join their fleet of Boeing 720s and 707s. When the airline was grounded in 1982, this was one of the aircraft left behind when others were returned to lessors and banks. These were scrapped at Boeing Field in 1982/83. The nose of this aircraft went to the New England Air Museum.

Delivered to Cochise Airlines in October 1978, the "City of Yuma" is pictured as the airline was withdrawing it from service. Cochise ceased flying in 1982 and the aircraft was bought by Air Virginia in April 1984. After the airline changed their name to AVAir, the Metro was written off in a non-fatal accident when both engines failed in icing conditions and the aircraft was damaged during a forced landing on December 17, 1987.

Golden Gate was Formed in merger of Gem State Airlines and San Francisco based Air Pacific March 1, 1980. This Dash 7 was delivered new May 7, 1981, but Golden Gate had bought struggling Swift Air in January 1981 to increase their California presence. Unfortunately they had to cease operations August 20, 1981 when the US Air Traffic Controllers strike worsened losses beyond their ability to cope. Last with Linea Turística Aereotuy as YV-637C, the aircraft is stored at Caracas, Venezuela.
