This aircraft had a civil career with the CIA and then as an air tanker. Converted back to wartime configuration and flown as a warbird. Now at the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, McMinnville, Oregon as "Shady Lady". Photo from: Whites Aviation Collection/Alexander Turnbull Library

Probably attached to the US Embassy. Fate unknown but it is not the C-45 with this serial on static display at Tergnier, France nor the Beech 18 ZK-TEX painted as 44-47506. The French aircraft copied the markings on ZK-TEX but with the registration "ZI-TEX". Photo from: Whites Aviation Collection/Alexander Turnbull Library

The captured German cruiser Prinz Eugen sailed to the USA in 1946 with two Ar 196s on board. The ship's catapult was installed at Mustin Field and some test launches were carried out with spurious markings painted on this aircraft. These were simply copied from an old publicity photo of Ar 196A-4 GA-DX, c/n 0124. This airframe, really an Ar 196A-5 built by Fokker in Amsterdam, is currently in National Air and Space Museum custody for possible restoration. The other Ar 196 from Prinz Eugen is now back in Germany, at Nordholz.

G-AHFI was Skyways' first Avro York, christened Skyway on 13 April 1946 and departing Langley airfield near London for Basra on the company's first commercial flight the next day. 30 red leather armchair seats were installed. From 31 May 1946, Skyways undertook tourist flights to Switzerland as seen here. From 16 November 1948 its Yorks took part in the Berlin Airlift. G-AHFI crashed on approach to Gatow on 15 March 1949.
