Delivered in May 1934 and here parked on the apron outside the United hangar with a party of students taking a look at this wonder of modern engineering. In August 1942 it was impressed by the USAAF as a C-73 transport and given serial 42-68363. In November 1944 it was sold off to Lineas Aereas Mexicanas and after changing hands was withdrawn from use in 1952.

"City of Renton" on display at The Museum of Flight in vintage United Air Lines colours. The aircraft was built as a 247 and delivered in 1933 to Pacific Air Transport. It was taken into UAL on 1 May 1934 and went back to Boeing for conversion to a 247D, re-joining the fleet in Aug 1935. With the advent of the DC-3, UAL's 247s were sold to other operators. This aircraft served with the RCAF, later flying in Latin America. It went back to the USA, serving as a crop sprayer and cloud seeder. Restored to airworthy status, it flew for the last time on 26 Apr 2016.

NC18945 is ready for boarding at gate 2. N18945 to Continental Air Lines in the 1950s. On 29 August 1955 it collided with a Piper Tri-Pacer, N3334B, while landing in Hobbs, New Mexico. The DC-3 landed safely and was repaired. Noted in Continental service at Dallas in 1962, when they still flew to some 'rural' destinations. Subsequent history of N18945 unclear but Continental subsidiary CASI operated DC-3s in SE Asia. Reg cancelled in 2013. Photo from: SFO Museum

The UAL Mainliner is framed with the San Francisco-Oakland Bay Bridge, Yerba Buena Island and Treasure Island, which only looked like this during the 1939-1940 Golden Gate International Exposition. No Pan Am flying boats are visible in the Clipper Cove between the two islands. Treasure Island was to become a land airport after the fair, but became a naval facility instead. NC16087 flew for UAL until 1955. As PI-C942 it crashed in the Philippines in 1965. Photo from: SFO Museum
