Preserved at the entrance to this extremely interesting, now closed, airfield in a mountain that straddles Croatia and Bosnia. The plane was built for the USAAF as 44-76592 and later flew with the RAF as KN453. Note that the port and starboard sides are different.

US Army Air Force 42-23951 was transferred to Qantas as VH-AFA in August 1944. Later VH-AEZ with Trans Australian Airlines, the aircraft worked it's way around the world as VR-NCO, 5B-AA, EI-ANK, G-ATBE before coming to Canada in 1970 for North Coast Air Services. Pictured with Ilford Riverton Airways (later Air Manitoba), the aircraft was last flying for Points North Air Service 1994 - 98, it was donated to the Saskatchewan Aviation Museum in 2014.

Delivered to USAF as 43-49849 10th Jan 1945 and transferred to the RAF as KN241 16th Jan 1945. Registered G-AMZH 2nd May 1953 and sold to TAA Niugini as VH-SBW 16th May 1965 and re-registered P2-SBW 4th March 1974. Re-registered P2-ANQ 3rd Dec 1975 and withdrawn from use 31st July 1977. Preserved and displayed at a roundabout at AYPY (Port Moresby)

To ZS-BRW on 16May1947 Pan African Air Charters. To the UK 06Feb1951 as G-AMHJ with Cyprus Airways. Later with Iraq Petroleum Transport Co, Hunting Clan,British United, Morton Air Services, BUIA, British Island Airways, Macedonian Aviation, Intra Airways, Jersey European, Air Atlantique, Air Luton and Atlantic Air Transport. WFU CVT 04 Jan 2002. Restored 2004 at Shawbury as KG651. To Metheringham visitor centre 16 Nov 2015.

Ex N4700C, N2001, NC44783, 41-20133 (C-53). Originally converted with two Dart turboprops in 1969, registered as N4700C, and re-engined in 1977 (and re-registered as DC-3A-S1C3G N23SA) with three PT6A turboprops. Stored in 1980 and sold to Basler for rebuild as a Turbo-67, but not used and broken up by 2008. (A fuselage section was used in the rebuild of C-FMKB after it was severely damaged on 20 December 2007 in a take-off accident in Antarctica.)

Hard to believe but this photo is taken at Luton Airport ! At the old general aviation grass parking area. Long gone. This aircraft was acquired from Martin Baker Aircraft Ltd and is still in their colour scheme complete with ejection seat style warning symbol on the tail. Built as 43-48359 for the USAAF but immediately transferred to the RAF as KJ836. To the UK civil register as G-APML on 17 Apr 1958 with Transair. Transferred to Martin Baker Aircraft Ltd 29 Aug 1958. She was acquired by Air Atlantique on 6 Jul 1981. WFU and stored at Coventry CVT in May 1996. Scrapped Sep 1998.
