Built as 43-49474 in 25Nov44. Delivered to the RAF as KK151 18Dec44. To Starways as G-AMRA 08Mar52. To Airwork 11Apr53 and flew in the Berlin Airlift as XE280 for the RAF. As G-AMRA it then flew for a series of UK Airlines over the years. Aden Oil Refining, BUA, Morton, BUIA, British Island Airways, Macedonian Aviation, Humber Airways, Intra Airways, Eastern Airways before joining Air Atlantique on 21Oct81. To Atlantic Air Transport 22Jul00. To Air Service Berlin still as G-AMRA on 23Oct15 and based at Berlin Schonefeld. Registration cancelled 29 Oct 2019.

The registration was subsequently cancelled by the CAA on 29 October 2019, and the C-47 formally registered as D-CXXX (2).

Operated a supply charter CVT-CGN-CVT on behalf of the Ford Motor Company. Quite a rare sight at CGN, even back in '92. Very bad wx that day with pouring rain and high winds. Photo is of rather poor quality because I had to use a long lens (>300mm).

Empire Airways is a fictitious airline. The aircraft was used for a television show.

Classic Flight titels faded from the fuselage

G-AMRA, adorned with ClassicFlight.com titles, is receiving some tender loving care in the Air Atlantique Classic Flight hangar. On 30 Jul 2013 this DC-3, operated by Air Atlantique since 1981, departed Coventry for the last time, on delivery to new owner Air Service Berlin. It was intended as the replacement for their first DC-3 D-CXXX (c/n 32872) which had crashlanded in Jun 2010. By May 2014 G-AMRA was still in basic Air Atlantique colours but now with registration D-CXXX applied. However, in 2019 the entire project was suddenly abandoned and this lovely DC-3 was offered for sale or scrap.
