Originally built as Convair 340 N90854 for Continental Airlines in 1953 it was converted to turboprop power in 1968. It is thought to have been broken up at Roswell soon after this photograph was taken.

Built 1948. To KLM -5 Nov.1948, initially as PH-TED, later PH-CED. To Deutsche Flugdienst as D-BESI -9 Dec.1957, to Condor Flugdienst -1 Nov.1961. Sold 30 Oct.1962, later as N2403Z to Ozark Airlines and as N8329C with Mohawk Airlines and several subsequent operators, the last being Asiatic International Airways, operating out of Singapore-Seletar. While flying a local test flight out of there on 17 Sept.1975, it suffered engine failure and ditched in the water of the Straits of Johore, some 400m short of the Seletar runway, to which it was trying to return. Marks N8329C cancelled 19 Dec.1975.

This early Convair 240 flew with American Airlines from December 1948 - October 1959 as N94204.. Initially christened "Flagship Detroit", the aircraft was later named " Mohawk, Chapultepec Castle and West Point". Pictured with R L Polk & Co (a data aggregator for he automotive industry, insurance companies, and related businesses) 1967 - 72, the aircraft was sold to American Velodur Metal as N7040 in 1972. Re-registered N10AV in 1973, it was written off after losing power over a populated area of Hyannis, MA and attempting a forced landing on a beach on April 9. 1977.

Was later re-registered as C-FKFL and converted to fire-bomber configuration, operating as Tanker 49 with Conair Aviation. When the CV-580 fire-bomber fleet was retired at the end of the 2022 season this aircraft was withdrawn from use and stored at Kelowna, BC.

Delivered new to SABENA in 1955 as CV440 OO-SCS then sold to Frontier Airlines in 1968 and converted to turbo. Here it has just been imported by Kelowna Flightcraft, along with two others. All three are in Sierra Pacific livery and carry ferry registrations. This one was converted to fire bomber as C-FHKF for Conair then retired in 2022 and donated to the BC Aviation Museum. (For the record the other two were C-GEVB c/n 80, became C-FEKF and C-GEVC c/n 179, became C-FFKF.)

Delivered new to United Airlines in 1952 as a CV340 and here after turbo conversion. Imported in 1988 and exported as N581P in 1995.

When the Confederate Air Force, as it was then styled, moved its headquarters to Midland, TX., this aircraft was relocated to the Museum of Aviation at Warner Robins, Georgia, but only the nose section exists there now.
