Rolling down the single runway of kandahar, this heavy armed Harrier of 4sq made its first flight on 12 Dec'88 and was delivered to the RAF as a GR7 on 23 Dec'88. Converted to GR7A in late 2003 and in late 2009 to GR9A. Withdrawn from use in Dec'10, stored at Cottesmore and later sold to the USA and shipped to 309th AMARG in early 2012. Moved from AMARC by Aug'23. Sold as scrap to HVF West, Tucson.

Reportedly taken on charge by the Afghan Air Force in 1981. Returned to Russia in a beautiful camouflage patern for overhaul somewhere in mid-2005 and returned to the 382 Regiment of the Afghan National Army - Air Corps (ANA-AC) in January 2006 in this boring grey colour scheme. Reportedly retired on 24 December 2010. But assigned to the Kabul Air Wing up to 2022. Current state unknown.

First flight at 14 March 1980, delivered to the Army Air Corps as a Lynx HT1 on 2 April 1980, redesignated to AH1. Later modified to AH7. After a long AAC career, stored with MPSU at Middle Wallop and being stripped for spares up to June 2015. Then dumped at Middle Wallop. Became an instructional airframe with DSEME at Lyneham from early September 2015. The AH7 is seen hovering over the Dutch platform at Kandahar. After landing it waited with XZ208 for the take-off of two Dutch Chinooks. They then joined for a mission to Uruzgan in which the Lynx gave armed support (doorgun on right side).

Assigned to 4th Reg. This Longbow starts a new combat mission over southern Afghanistan. The Apache arrived in the UK on 8 Oct'00 and was delivered to GNK-Westland Ltd a few days later. It was assigned to the Advanced Helicopter Training Unit at Middle Wallop from 2001, then moved by road to Shawbury for storage in early 2003 and stored up late 2004. Moved to Agusta-Westland Ltd at Yeovil for modifications. Transferred to the Army Air Corps in late 2005. Deployed to Afghanistan, returned to the UK and was air freighted from Brize to the USA on 10 Mar'20 for conversion to AH-64E by Boeing.

Assigned to 9Regt during this deployment to Afghanistan. The helicopter gave mainly armed support to transport helicopters. The Lynx was first flown on 11 May 1979 and delivered as AH1 to the Army Air Corps on 4 July 1979. It was later converted to AH7. It was last reported as stored with Everett Aero at Sproughton (UK) in 2014.

Former company test registration N5112K was delivered as a UC-35A to the US Army 52nd AVN in late 2000. It was converted to UC-35A1 by 2004. The VIP jet is seen here in the heat at the US Army platform at Kandahar.

This Beech served Dynamic Av Lease at the time the picture was made. The King Air is former C-12C 76-22553 of the US Army. It was transferred to the "civil" market on 5 Feb'99 as N255AG with AGES Aircraft Sales & Leasing. In that same month the Dynamic Aviation Group Inc. started to operate the aircraft, most probably in support of US Government agencies. On 24 Apr'01 the Beech was reregistered to N612SA and kept that one until Dec'10 when it became N42J with Dynamic AvLease Inc.. In Mar'19 the King Air was converted to Beech A200 with still Dynamic AvLease Inc. Current state?

Regular visitors at Kandahar were An-124s. They were moving heavy stuff like the armed vehicles in the back ground. This 82081 was assembled from mid-1999 onwards. It only made its first flight on 11 April 2004.

An unmarked Beech 1900. This aircraft started its life as ZS-OYK with National Airways Corporation on 11 November 2002. Was moved to Airserv International in September 2005 and to Safair in July 2006. Served the United Nations during 2005 and 2006. It is not known if the unmarked aircraft still served the UN in early 2008. In July 2008, it was sold to Solenta Aviation, then by November 10 to Tullow Air and returned to Solenta Aviation. Its registration was cancelled on 28 September 2022. Its construction number was then reported with Algerian prefix 7T-... in late 2022. Current state?

Sold to Atlant-Soyuz by 1 Feb'02, became EX-064 with Reem Air by 3 June'05 and EW-240TH with Gomelavia (as pictured) by 27 Apr'06. Sold to Asia Continental as UP-I7640 by 8 Jul'09, then ZetAvia as UR-CID by 26 Jan'10, Ark Airways as EK-76640 by 23 Mar'10, again ZetAvia as UR-ZID by 24 Jun'11, became UP-I7645 with Air Almaty in Mar'17, to Sigma Airlines by 14 Aug'17, and eventually 5A-POL with Libya in Sep'19.

Delivered to Martinair on 21 December 1978, moved to KLM from 17 October 1989 up to April 1992. Returned to Martinair and was leased to world Airways on 25 June 1992. Returned to Martinair and was withdrawn from use on 8 July 1992. Was sold to the Koninklijke Luchtmacht (KLu, Royal Netherlands Air Force) on 6 October 1994 and converted to KDC-10 tanker transporter. Delivered to the KLu as T-264 on 28 September 1995. Soldiered on with 334 squadron from Eindhoven air base up to 19 February 2020. Was then sold to Omega Air as N264DE.

First flight on 25 March 1966, accepted as a VC-10 C1 on 7 July 1996 and was the first of its type for the Royal Air Force. The tanker transporter was delivered on 17 November 1966. It was later modified to C1K. The VC-10 made its very last flight for the RAF on 6 April 2010. It flew that day from homebase Brize Norton to Bruntingthorpe. It was stored up to mid-2010 and then scrapped at Bruntingthorpe by late July 2010. It is seen parked at Schip-East, a small platform of the international airport.

Delivered as OO-SJO to Sabena Belgium World Airlines on 3 Dec'69. Sold as 9Q-CBS to Scibe Airlift on 30 Jan'85, became 9Q-CBW with the same company in Sep'88. Leased to Air Algérie in Jun'89, returned to Scibe that same month and left for European Airlift in 1990 and returned to Scibe in that same year. So difficult to say which company owned it when this picture was made. Became TL-ALM with Scibe in May'02 and was sold as TL-ADJ to Africa Lines on 6 Aug'02. Eventually sold as again 9Q-CBW to Hewa Bora Airlines in Feb'04. Broken up at Kinshasa (DCR) in 2012.

Parked at the dedicated RAF platform at Kandahar. This Juliet made its first flight on 3 May'99 as N4249Y. The Herc was delivered as a Hercules C5 to the RAF on 28 Jul'99. The Herc made its last flight on 19 Jan'17 from Brize Norton to Marshalls Cambridge. It was stored and offered for sale. Its RAF serial was cancelled on 3 Jul'18. It was sold to Bangladesh as 99-5482/S3-AGF and was delivered as such on 18 May'20. It is seen here without the large green painting on the forward fuselage, which is reportedly an extra layer to prevent gravel damage to the fuselage when landing on dirt-strips.

Former Boeing test registration N6038E in June 1989. Sold to KLM as PHBFC on 1 September 1989. Flew for KLM ASIA from 18 October 1995. The Queen was withdrawn from use on 9 March 2018. Broken up at Teruel in January 2020.

former N710BD made its first flight on 21 Sep'82 and was delivered to 32sq on 14 Apr'83. Offered for sale by tender in in Feb'15 and stricken on 31 March 2015. The aircraft made its last flight on 25 Mar'15 from Northolt to Dunsfold. It was then stored up to May'16. Then moved to Biggin Hill by late 2016. Fate ?

Delivered to the Irish Air Corps on 13 February 1980 and withdrawn from use on 2 December 1992.
