Assigned to 9Regt during this deployment to Afghanistan. The helicopter gave mainly armed support to transport helicopters. The Lynx was first flown on 11 May 1979 and delivered as AH1 to the Army Air Corps on 4 July 1979. It was later converted to AH7. It was last reported as stored with Everett Aero at Sproughton (UK) in 2014. It is here seen at the AAC platform at Kandahar in the late afternoon.

This Lynx flew first on 9 Jul'79, it was retained by Westland for flight trials. The Lynx was delivered as an AH1 to the Army Air Corps on 22 Feb'84. It was later converted to AH7. Served the AAC up to 1 Dec'11. On that day, the Lynx suffered an in flight fire due to a hydraulic leak. The pilot performed an emergency landing in a field near Tatenhausen (Germany), about 16 km from RAF Gütersloh. Became an instructional airframe with DSEME at Lyneham from early September 2015. The AH7 is seen hovering over the Dutch platform at Kandahar. After landing it waited with XZ208 for the take-off of two Dutch Chinooks. They then joined for a mission to Uruzgan in which both Lynx' gave armed support.

It is here seen at the start of a combat mission over Afghanistan at the age of 28 years. The Lynx was withdrawn from use on 31 March 2014, Middle Wallop. Stripped for spares and stored at Everett Aero at Sproughton in late 2014. Then moved to storage at the Delta Force Paintball Center, Upminster in July 2016, moved to Billericay paintball in April 2017 and eventually to Delta Force Paintball in Maidenhead by late '23

Assigned to 9Regt and acting as force protecting for a Dutch Chinook mission to Uruzgan. The mission went well, and this AH7 returned safely at its deployment base Kandahar. This Lynx was first flown on 16 July 1980, was delivered to the Army Air Corps as an AH1 on 4 August 1980. The helicopter was withdrawn from use in December 2013 and stored at Middle Wallop. It was stripped for spares and sold as scrap on in May 2014. It was then seen as stored with Everett Aero at Sproughton, then with the Delta Force Paintball Center at Upminster and later with the same company at Romsey.

A British Army Air Corps Lynx helicopter can be found in the interesting Shannon Aviation Museum. The museum depicts the importance of Shannon airfield, one of Europe's most Western airports, the starting point for many transatlantic flights.
