Delivered to the USAAF as 43-48398 in 1944. To N87654 in 1961 then to C-GABH in 1976. Back to N87654 in 1979 then to SAEP as HK-3213 in 1986. To Lacol in 1994. Crashed in 1995.

This veteran airplane was originally delivered as C-47B 43-48859 to the USAAF and served with the French and South Vietnamese forces afterwards, as 348859. From 1968 until 1992 she was stored at MASDC. Early in 2000 the Basler turboprop conversion took place under registration N40386, along with outfitting as an airtanker. In 2004, the USAF leased her back and in 2007, C-GEAJ was applied. As such, this die-hard even crashlanded in Antarctica, was repaired, and did several ocean crossings since then. Resting here at current home base Calgary.

Operated with a number of airlines as G-AKNB before and after its time with Clyden Airways. Went to Northern Airways in Jul 85 as N59NA. Later to Basler for conversion to BT-67 and then to Airtec as N141PR. To ALCI Aviation Oct 2019 as C-GOOU. Was still operating 12 Mar 2020.

Operated with numerous airlines as G-AMPZ before and after its time with Clyden Airways. In May 2003 it went, as D-CXXX, to Air Service Berlin, a company which provided joy rides. On 19 Jun 2010 the aircraft had to make an emergency landing near Schonefeld and was damaged beyond economical repair.

Built for Pan Am as NC34961 but not delivered. To the US Navy as R4D-4 Bu33819 in 1943. To NC95475 in 1946 and to SCOLTA as C-71 then Avianca as C-140 in 1948. To HK-140 in 1949. Converted to Hiper DC-3. To LANSA in 1952, TANA in 1974, El Venado in 1975, Transamazonica in 1980, Aliansa in 1992 and Lacol in 1996. Possibly never went back into service after this photo was taken.

Somewhat backlit to get a shot of this side of the new DC-3 in the miniature city of Madurodam theme park. This DC-3 originally N213GB was rescued from Florida in 2018. New in the miniature city of Madurodam theme park in the city of The Hague is this fully restored DC-3. In the future it will offer "flights" over the miniature town, in a mechanical way. It looks like a large jack will lift the fuselage. This feature is not yet ready. The DC-3 is ex N213GB which was transported by boat from Florida in late 2018. The fake registration PH-APM refers to Albert Plesman, founder of KLM in 1919, over 100 years ago. Note for photographers, it is pretty difficult to get the registration in on this side, which has the afternoon sun. Bring a long lens to allow a distant shot.

In 1975 Florida Airlines took over both Air South and Shawnee Airlines, because their route networks supplemented that of Florida Airlines perfectly. The two airlines continued to operate under their own names as Florida Airlines subsidiaries, but their combined routes were marketed as "The Connection". Some aircraft carried large "The Connection" titles, and often also the actual airline's name in smaller size. DC-3 N79B for example is seen here carrying small "Florida Airlines" titles on the nose and below the reg.

This aircraft is not the original NZ3546. It is ex USAF 43-49219, PI-C486, VH-PNM, VH-SBT. It was registered ZK-DAK in 1987 after arriving from Australia..

Clearly an advertising shoot with daisy-fresh 'overnight passengers' disembarking from a TWA 'Luxury Sky-Sleeper'. Although the 'widebody' DC-3 was expensively redesigned from the DC-2 as a sleeper plane, it never became popular as such. TWA's DC-3B already had a smaller, convertible sleeper cabin, with fewer upper windows than the original DST. NC17312 was commandeered by the USAAF as a C-84, but returned to TWA in 1943.
