A photo mission in a Cessna 172 over Davis Monthan and Marana afforded this opportunity above Hamilton's facility on finals back into Tucson. Note the two B733's being prepared for Atlant-Soyuz and the engineless B732 of Sakhalin AT. In the foreground the MD-83 is ex-Air Liberte, the left B727 ex-Cougar

Back in the days when the USN was synonymous with colour. This VA-86 A-7C was later converted to a TA-7C two-seater and entered AMARC in 1992. It now serves the Greek AF. Following NATO exercise "Northern Merger", in which USS America joined with HMS Ark Royal to provide air support for a NATO task force amphibious landing, she visited Portsmouth for five days from 29.9.74. Decommissioned in 1996, she was used for attack testing with live weapons and was controversially scuttled off NC in 2005

Here just a few days after coming off Lockheed's Palmdale line, the famous PSA smile on this TriStar only lasted another two years before storage at Marana. Converted to 100 Series, leased to Aero Peru in 11.79 and bought by Worldways as C-GIFE in 6.85. Stored again at Kingman in 6.91 and to N125DT for Donald Trump's Ultimate Air Corp in 12.93. After VIP use plans failed, back to being parked up, this time at LAS then OPF where she was finally broken up during 1998 in Worldways c/s

Delivered to the USN in 8.56 as a WV-2, this machine joined the Naval Missile Range at Point Mugu in 1961. Retired to DM in 3.78; after this photo was taken she was prepared for one final flight, ferrying to the McClellan Aviation Museum in California on 8.4.83. After her first 14 years spent with KLM as "Sir Isaac Newton", this DC-8 was sold to Viasa in 1975. Although bought by Aeronaves del Peru in 1984, she remained in store at Opa-locka as was broken up next year. We take for granted nowadays a choice of views to shoot thanks to zoom lenses, but it occurs to me that the angle here was forced by my old fixed 200mm

The Stapleton airport authority couldn't have been more helpful and took me to this position where I could shoot rotations at 50mm. This 727 joined Western in 3.77 and was sold after the Delta merger to FedEx in 1.96 for freighter conversion, operated in their colours by Morningstar Air Express as C-FMEI; donated Alameda College Oakland, CA in 06.13
