There is a question mark hanging over the c/n for this aircraft. Conflicting evidence suggests that there may have been two DC-3s registered XA-JIH to Aerovias Oaxaquenas within a short period of time. One was c/n 4225 and the other c/n 9904. I cannot find any other information on c/n 4225 other than it was reportedly registered to Oaxaquenas in Sep 79. The c/n 9904 frame was previously with Basler as N138H and records indicate that the US registration was cancelled in Jan 80 as "exported to Mexico". If anyone has more definitive information, please contact me.
Built for the USAAF as UC-45B 43-35482 then transferred to the RCAF as Expediter Mk.I HB113 in 1943. Converted to a Mk.1MN in 1949 and then to a Mk.3T around 1952. To CF-SFI in 1965 and N9043V in 1981. Preserved at Historical Aircraft Squadron, Lancaster OH from around 2006.
Its previous identity 39097 of the US Marines can just be discerned. It left storage at MASDC in December 1977 and was still awaiting refurbishment to operate for Lee County Health Department as an aerial sprayer.
