1963 Skymaster heading out for a demo flight. While doing missionary work (N538JP), this 336 later crashed during landing at Coban, Guatmala July 31, 2008. A mechanical failure in the flap system caused it to roll nearly inverted and while the pilot quickly retracted the flaps and corrected the roll, the engines had quit and the aircraft impacted a wooded hillside. There were no injuries and five people walked away from the wreck.

This DC-7, Douglas' pinnicale of piston engine airliner developement, was delivered to Northwest Airlines July 1957. A forward freight door was added in 1962, but the jet age overtook these beauties and the aircraft was donated to the Alexandria Technical School in 1967. In 1989, T & G Aviation bought and made it flyable again. Sold in 1991 to Aerochago Airlines becoming HI-599CT, it was written off after only five months when it overran the runway end after an engine failure on take-off.
