This DC-7, Douglas' pinnicale of piston engine airliner developement, was delivered to Northwest Airlines July 1957. A forward freight door was added in 1962, but the jet age overtook these beauties and the aircraft was donated to the Alexandria Technical School in 1967. In 1989, T & G Aviation bought and made it flyable again. Sold in 1991 to Aerochago Airlines becoming HI-599CT, it was written off after only five months when it overran the runway end after an engine failure on take-off.
