This Buchon was one of 23 tendered by the Spanish Air Force in 1966 and bought for the "Battle of Britain" movie released in 1969. C.4K-100 became Luftwaffe red 13 for the movie and was among the 21 aircraft transferred to Wilson "Connie" Edwards as payment for flying and work as aerial coordinator. As N90605 the landing gear collapsed in a ground loop incident in 1975 and it was later sold as a non-flyable museum exhibit to the Kalamazoo Aviation History Museum. Registered until 2014 as N76GE, it has been re-painted as C.4K-19

Canadian airline pioneer Max Ward passed away on November 2, 2020 at the age of 98. I wish I had something better as a "flown west" tribute, but this photo of Wardair's first 707 on a grey day in Toronto was all I had ready. With the airline's operation center across the street in the background, Wardair was Canada's premier charter airline.

In the early 70s, International carriers were replacing 707s with wide bodies like the 747. Second tier carriers became homes for many, BWIA eventually operating thirteen of them. Scarlet Ibis was in their fleet March 1974 - February 1982. Leases as N29796 and N144SP followed until April 13, 1987 when the Burlington Air Express freighter crashed short of the runway at Kansas City International Airport, MO.

Air BC's second BAe-146, this aircraft was delivered June 8, 1988. It was finally retired by Air Canada Jazz in 2005 and stored. Registered ZS-AAX when bought by Allegiance Air of South Africa, it was leased to partner airline Societe Nouvelle Air Congo (TN-AIE) in 2008. Apparently returned in 2009, the airliner was stored at Kruger Mpumalanga International Airport in South Africa.

Former Royal Canadian Air Force Otter looks a little more sleek than when delivered in 1960. After RCAF service, the aircraft was sold via Crown Assets in 1982. Registered to Harbour Air in November 2002, it was converted to turbine before entering service in May 2003. Aeroflite Industries overhauled C-FHAA in the summer of 2013 and it emerged with this new color scheme featuring Victoria's local Royal Roads University.

This 1955 Otter first flew with Canadian Pacific Airlines and Pacific Western Airlines. Pictured with Air Tindi, the aircraft would break through the ice in the bush and sink November 26, 1992. It was back flying by 1995. In 2007, the aircraft was acquired by Slate Falls Airways and converted to a Vazar turbine DHC-3T over the winter of 2007/2008. It is current with the airline in 2020.

One of four DC-10s acquired from Pakistan International Airlines in 1986 in trade for four of CP Air's 747-217s. Pictured shortly after the formation of Canadian Airlines, it carries the registration in CP Air / Canadian Pacific position on the center engine, later updated. Sold to Finova Capital in June 2000 (N306FV) as Air Canada re-organized Canadian before merging the airlines, the DC-10 was converted to a freighter. Finally leased to Centurion Air Cargo in 2005, it was withdrawn again in 2007.

The Wren Aircraft Corporation converted Cessna 182 Skylanes between 1964 - 1972 with their WREN 460 STOL conversion. Consisting of full span double slotted flaps, a movable canard on the nose and other minor modifications to produce amazing STOL performance without the high angle of attack required by other aircraft with big engines and leading edge slats. CF-CXG was sold to Canada in 1968 and was active until June 2002 when it was sold in the USA. Registered N460JH, the registration expired in 2018.

Tucked away in a cold alcove, this Beaver had been with Keewatin Air since 1979. Originally US Army 55-0697, it would be damaged during a crosswind take-off at a lake in the Northwest Territories near Hudson's Bay (now called Nunavut ) on July 29, 1981. It would fly again a year later with Allen Airways. The bush plane is still current with Birchy Lodge Labrador Venture located in L'Anse au Clair, NL at the time of uploading.
