Delivered to United Iranian Airlines as EP-AHB in 1958. To Iran Air in 1962, Central African Airways as VP-WAT in 1966, Air Rhodesia in 1968, Air Rhodesia Zimbabwe in 1979 and Air Zimbabwe in 1980. To Filair as 9Q-CKK in 1990 then to Trans Service Airlift in 1991, Scrapped at Kinshasa-Ndjili in 1994.

Although registered in Malawi to Air Malawi, 7Q-YDL was extensively used by Air Rhodesia on internal services, with and without titles as she is seen here at Victoria Falls in November 1977. After the two Viscounts "Hunyani" and "Umniati" were shot down by hand-held missiles in 1978 and 1979, the polished metal and black surfaces were painted in anti-missile grey.

This measure was taken after the the two Viscounts "Hunyani" and "Umniati" were shot down by hand-held missiles in 1978 and 1979.

VP-YNM was one of these aircraft seen here at Salisbury a few months after arriving with sisterships YNL and YNN after Air Rhodesia clandestinely acquired three of Calair's five 720s. It started its service life with Eastern Air Lines in August 1961. In December 1970 it joined the fleet of short-lived German charter airline Calair.

Captured in the setting mid-winter sun on the highveld of Johannesburg, VP-WAR is carrying the original Air Rhodesia colours. This colour scheme was changed with the arrival of the Boeing 720s from 1973 onwards.

The Hunyani was shot down by a heat-seeking missile on depature from Kariba operating RH825 on 3 September 1978. Here seen ten years earlier at the then Jan Smuts International in Johannesburg.
