"Big Louie" eases onto SEN's runway 06. I grew up 3 miles out along that approach path in the Sixties and have the Carvair and the other classic props of the time to thank for firing my aviation interest

Looking superb just after roll-out and wearing additional 'B' class registration for certification, this Belfast was formerly XR362 and one of four civilianised. The work required included the fitment of a stick-pusher to counter the aircraft's narrow stall margin. Wfu SEN as early as 1984, used for spares and scrapped 2.94

Originally CX-AOU with PLUNA, this Heron was bought by Gulf Aviation in 9.58 and by Channel Airways in 7.69, becoming wfu next year. Seen here after a clear-out of Channel's storage hangar, immediately before scrapping. Note the two ex-East Anglian Flying Services/Channel DH.89A Dragon Rapides at right, G-AEMH and G-AKRN, which were wfu way back in 1960

Starting life as CX-AOV with PLUNA in 3.54 and enjoying long and varied service including Gulf Aviation, this Heron had recently been registered 9Q-CRL when bought by Channel in 6.69. Soon after, they announced a name change to Air England but this was the only a/c painted as such. Used on feeder services SEN-NWI-EMA. To Peters 5.72 then 5B-CCD, returning to Peters and on to Fairflight in 1977. Bought by Sky of Siam 3.80 as HS-EAA and stored at BKK from 1983; wreck said still to be extant around 2000

Emerging from a respray after acquisition from London City Airways, this Dash 7 returned to the UK in 2004 for repainting once again, this time in the overall red Air Greenland livery at Norwich. Operated with Air Tindi as C-GCPY from 2012, still in the basic red colours and suffered a major windscreen crack on departure from Yellowknife on 14.12.13, causing the whole screen to ice over. An almost blind but safe return landing was accomplished
