slide scan from the NK collection. - Air Trader A/B operated three Vanguards on freight charters, but the airline had to suspend operations after about one year again. The leased Vanguards returned to Air Holdings; a forth example of the type, acquired for spares only, remained derelict at Air Traders homebase at Stockholm-Bromma. - SE-FTI was later used by EAS and Merpati; it was noted at Jakarta in 1985, wfu as PK-MVA, and was subsquently scrapped.

Delivered to Trans Canada Air Lines as CF-TKU in 1962. Renamed to Air Canada in 1964. To Air Holdings in 1969 and stored at Cambridge. Reregistered as G-AZNG then to Air Trader as SE-FTI in 1972. Returned to Air Holdings as G-AZNG then to Merpati Nusantara Airlines as PK-MVC in 1973. Back to Air Holdings as G-AZNG then to Europe Aero Service as F-BVUY in 1974. To Merpati Nusantara Airlines as PK-MVA in 1981. Withdrawn from use at Jakarta-Kemayoran by 1985 and later scrapped.

Delivered to Air Holdings in November 1969 to be G-AZNG but still not worn as at this date. To SE-FTI in April 1972 then G-AZNG, PK-MVC, G-AZNG, F-BVUY, PK-MVA. Broken up in Jakarta November 1985.

Taken on a very busy day at Glasgow, when many flights arrived with football fans for the 1976 European Cup Final, Bayern Munich v. St.Etienne.

In close company with G-BAMX (PK-MVW), this was one of eight Vanguards leased or bought by Merpati in the Seventies, four ex-Air Canada and four ex-BEA. Originally CF-TKU to TCA in 11.62, became G-AZNG with Air Holdings in 2.72 and leased to Air Trader (SE-FTI) for the latter half of the year. To PK-MVC 8.73 but officially back to G-AZNG 4.74, then F-BVUY for EAS in 11.74. Bought back by Merpati in 3.81, this time as PK-MVA and stored at JKT from 11.85 (see my 1983 shot), being scrapped by 1994

A nice line of classics, typical of Southend in the Seventies. SE-FTI didn't last long as such and went on to Merpati, EAS and back to Merpati again. Next is G-BAMX looking as though it is badly corroded - broken up a year later. Then ex-EPA Carvair CF-EPW and Aer Turas DC-4 EI-ARS with UN High Commissioner for Refugees titles

First leased by Merpati in 1974 in their eye-catching yellow and blue scheme as PK-MVC, this Vanguard returned to Indonesia in 1981 when bought from the French carrier Europe Air Service and ended its days there
