slide scan from the NK collection. - An EAS Vanguard in the mid colour scheme - still very similar to the Air Canada scheme, but with a redesigned tail logo. Later, F-BVRZ was one of only three Vanguards to be repainted into the new EAS colours, and it was operated by the French company until the end of 1980.

The Fw44 was a 1930's biplane, intended for the training and recreational markets. D-2914 seems to have been built in March 1934 and belonged to the Deutschen Luftsportverbandes (DLV) in Bremen. The DLV was set up in March 1933 by the Nazis, to establish a uniform basis for the training of (then civillian) pilots for the future Luftwaffe. Due to the Treaty of Versailles, this was apparently bound to strict rules. Photo from W Muntinga / Focke-Wulf

The Blume 502 was developed from the Blume 500 in the late 1950's by Walter Blume. The aircraft wasn't very succesful and only 2 examples were built. On May 16, 1982, the aircraft was damaged beyond repair in an emergency landing at Langenlonsheim. However, a restoration project started in 1999 and the aircraft was restored to flying condition in 2016 at Koblenz-Winningen. Early 2017 the aircraft took to the skies again, only to suffer a gear collapse upon landing. The aircraft was repaired and airworthy again at the time of the upload. Photo from W. Muntinga

The Do 29 was an experimental aircraft developed by Dornier and used to test a tilting-propeller system for STOL aircraft. Two examples of the Do 29 were built and a third was planned. This is the first prototype and it flew for the first time in December 1958, the tilting-propellor concept proving to be successful with a stalling speed of 24 kilometres per hour (15 mph) and exceptional short-field performance. Unfortunately, no further development of the system or aircraft took place and at the conclusion of its test program the Do 29 program was retired.

Unfortunately, no further development of the system or aircraft took place and at the conclusion of its test program the Do 29 program was retired.

slide scan from the NK collection. - THY Turkish Airlines acquired ten new DC-9-32's from Douglas and operated them between 1968 and 1994. One (TC-JAC) was lost in an accident near Adana, Turkey in 1972; the remaining nine aircraft were sold to Valujet in 1994. TC-JAB was the first of these DC-9-32's, and it finally saw some services with AirTran until being scrapped in 2004.
