The Do 29 was an experimental aircraft developed by Dornier and used to test a tilting-propeller system for STOL aircraft. Two examples of the Do 29 were built and a third was planned. This is the first prototype and it flew for the first time in December 1958, the tilting-propellor concept proving to be successful with a stalling speed of 24 kilometres per hour (15 mph) and exceptional short-field performance. Unfortunately, no further development of the system or aircraft took place and at the conclusion of its test program the Do 29 program was retired.

The Do-29 was a VSTOL research aircraft of the German AF.

I thought I knew my aviation history, but I had never heard of this machine. Based on the Do 27/28 light aircraft, it's a fascinating V/STOL plane with pusher propellers swiveling through 90 degrees. True serial was YD-101.
