Previously USAAF 43-16408, and NC51179 with TWA since Jan 1946. To ET-T-12 in the late 1940s, still with TWA. Arrived at Prestwick in Oct 1949, then converted to engine carrier for TWA with the Douglas "Plan D" prototype conversion kit by Scottish Aviation between Nov 1952 and Apr 1953. Back to N51179 in the mid 1950s, and later to F-OBCT, 5R-MAK and ET-AGM. Written off in March 1980 in Ethiopia. The same registration ET-T-12 was later carried by C-82 Packet "Ontos" (c/n 10184), also a TWA engine carrier.

In 1946 Vega-built USAAF B-17G 44-85728 was converted by Boeing for civil use as NX4600, and designated Boeing Model 299AB. It went to Trans World Airline in Jun 1946, for use in the Middle East, and was reregistered as NL1B in Dec 1946. It served with them only briefly, being donated to the Shah of Iran as EP-HIM in Apr 1947.

For some time TWA was 'Trans World Airline' rather than 'Airlines' and the TWA logo had an arrow through it. This C-54E, ex 44-9053, was in the TWA fleet between 1946 and 1951. The KLM DC-4 behind can be identified as PH-TAS Schiedam. Photo from: ETH-Bibliothek Zürich

This 049 Constellation was delivered to TWA on 19 February 1946 and was later named "Star of Tripoli". Converted from first class to coach in 1953. Total time at May 1959 41,203 hours. Sold to Las Vegas Hacienda in May 1961. From TWA 60 years ago.

Delivered to USAAF as C-54E 44-9120 in May 1945. Converted to DC-4 standard by Douglas in late 1945 and delivered to TWA on 5 February 1946. Named "Arc de Triomphe". Seen at Gander during a trans-atlantic crossing. Destroyed by fire at La Guardia on 28 September 1948. From TWA 60 years ago.

This was TWA's first Constellation, delivered to Kansas City on 15 November 1945. Operated on services within the continental USA. Converted to coach class in 1950. Stored from mid 1961 with 45,709 total hours. From TWA 60 years ago.

This 049 Connie was delivered to TWA on 29 January 1946 and named "Star of Africa". It is seen just after take-off with nose and main gear nearly retracted. She amassed 42,955 hours before retirement and sale in 1962. Obtained from TWA 60 years ago.

Delivered to USAAF as C-54E 44-9053 on 1 March 1945. Bought by TWA in 1946 and operated until lease to Northwest Airlines in 1951, Crashed at Sandspit BC on 19 January 1952. From TWA 60 years ago.
