This Dakota was operating a newspaper flight from Ringway to Belfast (Nutts Corner). The crew failed to warm-up the engines fully and carburetter icing caused loss of power on take-off from Runway 06. The aircraft clipped the trees at Heyhead (visible) and crashed into the adjacent field with the loss of both crew.

This Dakota was operating a newspaper flight from Ringway to Belfast (Nutts Corner). The crew failed to warm-up the engines fully and carburetter icing caused loss of power on take-off from Runway 06. The aircraft clipped the trees at Heyhead (visible) and crashed into the adjacent field with the loss of both crew.
