The last de Havilland Canada Twin Otter rolled off the DHC production line in December 1988. In 2006, Viking Air bought the type certificates for DHC designs no longer in production. While providing parts and service for these aircraft, Viking chose in 2007 to put the Twin Otter back into production. The first series 400 aircraft flew in 2010. In 2016, the 100th Viking produced Twin Otter flew using the same registration as their first. The aircraft is operated by sister company Pacific Sky Aviation providing training for Viking Air customers.

Pictured with J B Reid Logging from January 1984, the aircraft was sold to Castle Rock Exploration in June 1996. Unfortunately on September 30, 1996, the aircraft crashed working in Labrador while enroute to Goose Bay. The wreckage was eventually salvaged and has been stored by Viking Air since about 2003.
