This 1947 Beech 18 first went to New Zealand as ZS-BVS. Returning to the USA as N1827M in 1950, it received several upgrades over the years. Operated by Methow Aviation from 1994, the aircraft was damaged on an aborted take-off at Paine Field, WA on January 10, 2000. Dismantled and striped of parts, the fuselage has been stored at Harvey Field since 2008.

Ex RCAF 1525, 5184. Struck off 20 September 1970 and subsequently registered as CF-ZQG. Now marked with an appropriate fictitious registration. It was transferred by road with the wings and tail off by Robert W Arnold using his trusty pickup truck from Jay Wendell (Whitey) Hostetler's facility in one of the remote bays at Red Lake, Ontario 12 March 1984. It was still in its full military livery less titles but with the serial still visible and CF-ZQG crudely applied using a black aerosol. This implies that it was never operated as a civilian aircraft. Subsequently mounted on a pole as seen.

Ex USAAF as 44-87349 and USN 44676. Used by French Navy during the fivties and sixties. Preserved within Musée de l'Air et de l'Espace and later with Ailes Anciennes de Dugny.

This is one of only four out of 115 H18s with a c/n higher than BA-651 (when the Tri-Gear became a factory-installed option) to have been delivered in the standard tailwheel configuration. Hard and creative work was required to get above above the fence, but happy to have pulled it off! Lovely aircraft.

Hangared rather than being a part of the museum at Duxford

Seen while it was with the British Columbia Provincial Government doing photo surveys and mapping. In 1971 it went to Northern Thunderbird Air in Prince George and is now N62936 located in Hemet, California. I flew in the Expeditor several times a long time ago.

Registered to Excellent Adventures & Air Service Ltd 8 June 2005. It has been in store for several years and reportedly advertised for sale during the time of this visit. Apparently it needs a lot of work to get it flying again, but hopefully someone like Northwest Flying at Nestor Falls, Ontario will give it a good home.

Painted in South-East Asia WW2 markings with the red portion deleted from both roundel and fin flash. This aircraft did not serve in the RAF.

Previously D-IANA and traded in to Handley Page against Bavaria's Dart Herald order. Still carrying Bavaria Fluggesellschaft titles on the rear fuselage. Two Belgian Air Force Stampes doing their thing overhead.

Delivered as LV-PIB then to LV-JFH in 1967.

Acquired by Florida Air Cargo early 1997. It was to ditch 47 miles east of Bimini (Bahamas) 2 Feb 2000 following an engine failure.

Two of the three Turbo Tradewind conversions were done by the American Turbine Engine Co (ATE). This particular example however was converted by the Province of British Columbia at Victoria International Airport, using an ATE kit. So it is appropriate that it returned here for preservation. It now awaits its turn for restoration.

Delivered new to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) and was retired in 1973 as the longest serving of five Beech 18 with them. It was donated by Orville Rowland of Okotoks, Alberta, Canada to the Nanton Lancaster Society in 1998 and put on display at the museum, still in the RCMP livery.
