In 1973 this aircraft along with a few others were on display at the Air National Guard Base at the airport.

Built for USAAF as P-51D 44-74423. Transferred to RCAF and used by them November 1950 through July 1958. Raced as #64, first owned by California Airmotive Corp with reg, N182X with Clay Lacy as pilot. In 1970 Clay Lacy was owner, with reg. N64CL. This a/c won the 1970 Reno National Championship Unlimited Class Air Race with an average speed of 387.34 miles per hour with Lacy piloting.

Built for USAAF as P-51D 44-73410. Transferred to RCAF who operated the a/c from January 1951 through May 1959. Sold surplus and registered N6337T. Later owned by Dr. B. Byram, who reregistered it N169MD.

Delivered to USAAF in 1945 as P-51D 44-74216. Later transferred to the USAF Museum Loan Program, who loaned the a/c to the USS Alabama Battleship Memorial Park. This took place in 1972 or earlier. It was damaged by Hurricane Katrina in 2005. It has since been restored and is on display inside the Aircraft Pavilion.

Originally built for USAAF as P-51D 44-74441. Transferred to RCAF in November 1950. Sold surplus to Trans Florida Aviation in October 1959 and registered with FAA as N9149R. Sold to J.W. Fornof in August 1962, who painted the P-51D in the same markings as his F8F Bearcat. In March 1972 Mr. Fornof sold the a/c to Dunagon/Crawford & Co. On 30 December 1972 the a/c was destroyed in a fatal crash in Georgia.

Resting after displaying at the 2019 Tocumwal Airshow is Ross Pay's CAC built Mustang.

Ex RCAF 9246, USAAF 44-73979. Painted as '472258 Big Beautiful Doll', and later put on display at the Imperial War Museum, East Lambeth. Returned to Duxford in 2014 for renovation, and named 'Etta Jeanne II' marked as 44-11631 for display in the American Museum.

Not a genuine RNZAF aircraft but a composite from Indonesia (swap for a Vampire). Understand it was a Cavalier Mustang.

Built too late to see combat in WWII, this Mustang served with 45th TRS at Kimpo during the Korean War. Authorised for disposal in April 1956 at McClellan AFB, it went to Canada and returned to USA, where it changed hands several times. It was restored at Chino, CA as a TF-51D and flown with drop tanks to Duxford, where it reached on July 4, 2007 and became a part of The Fighter Collection. It is painted to represent Capt Frank Birtciel's P-51D 44-14561, Miss Velma of the 55th FG based at Wormingford.

This aircraft is really the former RAAF A68-170, built in 1949. Never actually off RAAF charge, it has been with the RAAF Museum since 1970 and was restored to flying condition during 1989-99.

This was built at Inglewood in December 1944 as 44-63871 and transported by sea to the UK in February 1945. It was TOC by the USAAF 8th Air Force but did not go into action, rather was ferried to Sweden in April where it entered service as J26, with Upplands Flygflottilj F16 based in Uppsala, serving there until 1952. It then went to Israel and took part in the Suez campaign. Once removed from the Israeli reserve its history is unknown but surfaced sometime later in Cannes with the civil registration N9722F. It was purchased by the museum in July 1968 and is on display in these fake markings.
