One of Australia original warbirds, VH-AUB was first registered in 1958. It was off the register from 1966 to 1980, returning when stifling restrictions on the operation of such aircraft were lifted.

The bright red VH-AUB was the private aircraft of Aubrey (Titus) Oates. It was a common sight around Moorabbin airport between 1958 to 1960 but after the aircraft moved to Bankstown airport it rarely flew. In 1966 -AUB was cancelled from the register, sold and trucked to Rosedale Station, near Jericho, Queensland. In the mid 1970s it was sold to warbird restorer Col Pay and moved to his base at Scone, New South Wales. It returned to the register in 1980 wearing less eye-catching but authentic RAAF markings. So nice to still these old birds flying brings back lots of memories during the war in the UK.

VH-AUB first appeared on the register in 1958. With the official view opposed to warbirds it was cancelled in 1966. Times changed. VH-AUB was restored in 1980 and continued to be registered in 2017.
