Former USAAF 43-48252, delivered to Türkiye on 6 December 1948. It is reported with code ETI-41 (1980) and later 12-041 and 1-041. The Dak was last assigned to 1 THKIKK at Eskisehir and was badly damaged in August 1994 when it lost its right engine during take-off from its homebase. Luckily, the aircraft was able to make a safe landing. The C-47 was damaged beyond economical repair and written off.

First delivered to American Airlines as NC25629 "Flagship Kingsport" in July 1940, it served until 1949. It then briefly flew for Capitol Airways Inc. before passing to Ozark Air Lines Inc. who in 1957 re-registered it N137D. Retired by Ozark in 1967 it then passed through the hands of a number of corporate owners, including Air Exec (short for Air Executive Co.). This Ontario, CA based company, founded by James Webb and Russell Meek, was operational in the early 1970s. The aircraft was officially re-registered N29MA in December 1979, but that registration was never applied. It remained stored at Chino as N137D, which was still visible on the left-hand side of the fuselage at the time of this photo.

Delivered to the USAAF as 43-48359 15 August 1944, to the RAF 20 August 1944. To Transair as G-APML 17 April 1958, to Martin Baker 29 August 1958. Sold to Air Atlantique 6 July 1981. CofA expired 1984, stored at Coventry, broken up there September 1998 and nose reportedly used for a restaurant project in Kuwait.

Brings back great memories of Gatwick in the 1960s!

Parked on an untidy ramp at Gimli Airport where it had been operated by FNT First Nations Transportation Inc. Still carrying elements of its previous later colours in service with Plummer's Lodges. Taken on charge new by the USAAF in 1943 as 43-48744. Transferred to the RCAF as 977, later re-numbered as 12958. Became CF-QHY in 1972. Joined FNT in 2007. Registered for a second time to Sioux Narrows Airways of Winnipeg, MB in 2009. Withdrawn from use and put into storage at Oshkosh, WI registered to Basler Turbo Conversions as N167TW in 2015.

Ex USAAF 43-15319, NL-207, PH-TBZ with KLM, and F-OAIU with Air Cameroon. Registered for Iberia 16 December 1955 and seen here at La Muñoza facilities. Spanish registration was cancelled 03 May 1974 to become RP-C149.

This 1940-vintage DC-3 remains extant and airworthy as of 2025 and is now resident in Turkey as N3291 with the M.S.Ö. Air & Space Museum at Sivrihisar, Eskisehir.

This aircraft is currently exhibited in bare polished metal finish in the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum, McMinnville, OR.

Delivered in 1941 as DC-3-362 (with Wright Cyclone GR1820 engines), then converted to DC-3(A) in 1953 (now fitted with Pratt & Whitney R-1830 Twin Wasp engines).

ANA standardised on the Wright Cyclone as used by its prewar DC-3 fleet. VH-IND was an ex USAAF C-47A and also received a passenger door in place the C-47s double doors as part of the civil conversion. After ANA was acquired by Ansett, VH-IND was transferred in 1960 to the group's New Zealand subsidiary, SPANZ, as ZK-BYE. It was refitted with Pratt and Whitney Twin Wasps. Delivered to the USAAF as 44-76803, then spent time in service with the RNZAF as NZ3543. Recently this aircraft and ZK-DAK were purchased by new Australian operator Gooney Bird Adventures Darwin. The aircraft arrived at Essendon airport where the work to put it onto the Australian VH register will begin and certify it in the Limited category.
