N56NA (ex USAAF 43-2023 and United Air Lines N19934) was operated by Northern Airways since Sep 1983 and withdrawn from use by them in July 1989. It was acquired by Peter Milic and flown to Europe in May 1990, then on to Africa. In July 1991 it arrived at Jerusalem, Israel for storage (until at least June 1994). Then in July 1996 the Skytrooper turned up in France, and was first seen at the museum in May 1998. It was registered to Sunbest Industries Corp. in March 2001 and then to Maghreb Aero Service in September 2001, but those were paper actions only and the aircraft has remained on display ever since.

Registered to J Bouchard. Ex USAAF 43-48547. To N10004 in 1971 then to HK-3629X and HK-4045X in 1995. Withdrawn from use at Villavicencio, Colombia in 1999.

Registered to PB Wise of London TX. Delivered to Northwest as NC25609 in 1940. Scrapped at Fort Lauderdale in 2002.

Operated by Lee County Mosquito District. Ex-43-48266. To N10005 in 1970. Withdrawn from use at Lehigh Acres, Buckingham Field by 2001 due to corrosion.

A very nice visitor! Initialy delivered to USAAF in May 1944 and assigned to 9th AF. Later used as civilian for Pioneer Airlines as N54729. Back to USAF inventory as C-117 C until 1952. Operated in 1971 by Indiana Department of Civil Defense as N11ND. Returned to USAF in 1973 as C-117C and placed on display at Vincennes University. Finally put in airworthy conditions again and converted in Basler BT-67 in 2012 and operated now by CGG Aviation for geophysical survey services to the oil gas and mineral.

Reregistered N301SF in June 1985. Its USAF markings were revealed when it was stripped back to bare metal.

Mangalore, remote from residential areas, served as a training airport for Ansett and TAA in the age of propliners and a place to divert when Melbourne-Essendon was closed. It later became the venue for Australia's Oshkosh, an annual Easter gathering of warbirds, sports and vintage aircraft. That has long gone and today YMNG is best known for its helicopter operations and flight training

I noticed on arrival that the aircraft attracted the attention of Australian Customs, so it must have been used outside Australia for a short service. I never found out where. The aircraft is sitting across from the Ansett hangars on the domestic ramp.

Served initially for USAAF as 42-24211 and participated to D-Day in Normandy with 48 Sqn / 313 TCG. Sold to Aigle Azur as F-BEFA and to Royal Air Maroc in 1957. Became later N54607 & G-BPMP. Finaly reduced to spares and scrapped in 1995. Taken by a member of my family in 1961.

Registration cancelled prior to 1990.

Sold in Santo Domingo as HI-465 in 1985
