Pictured by a member of my family 50 years ago at Oran La Sénia French Air Force air base N° 141. The aircraft has the markings of Transport wing 61 based in Orléans. In front stands the N° 197 (62-SU) in the markings of Transport Squadron 2 / 62 "Sahara" (ET 02-062). The picture is supposed to be taken in the begining of 1961.
Served initially for USAAF as 42-24211 and participated to D-Day in Normandy with 48 Sqn / 313 TCG. Sold to Aigle Azur as F-BEFA and to Royal Air Maroc in 1957. Became later N54607 & G-BPMP. Finaly reduced to spares and scrapped in 1995. Taken by a member of my family in 1961.
Five Caudron Luciole registered to Etat Français - Aviation Populaire (People's Aviation) owned by Air Ministry and used for military pilot basic flight training within René Caudron School. This School, was active between 1935 and 1940 and also trained mechanic staff for French Air Force. From family archive.
One of the Mirage F1CR of reconnaissance squadron "Savoie" (ER 02-033) deployed at this time in Incirlik AB, Turkey during Aconit operation (Provide Comfort). Taken from a C-135 FR just before refuelling over Turkey near the Iraqi border.
