Ex XT610. G-APRS, PI-C430 (ntu). Used by the Empire Test Pilots School at Farnborough for many years until sold to Flight One as G-BCWF in 1975. It was restored as G-APRS on 9 February 1993 and was operated by Air Atlantique for many more years, retaining its Raspberry Ripple colour scheme. It was grounded by 2010 with corrosion problems, and the registration was cancelled on 6 December 2017 as permanently withdrawn from use. It was sold to Main Farm Wigwams and moved to Thornhill in Scotland on 13 July 2018 for conversion for use as holiday accommodation.

1955 Scottish Aviation Twin Pioneer Srs3 This aircraft was the second pre-production prototype and first flew on 26th August 1956. Between January and March 1957 Swissair chartered the aircraft for short runway trial flights in the Alps, however no orders were placed and the aircraft was returned to Scottish Aviation. Tragically whilst on an African sales tour the aircraft crashed near Tripoli on 7th December 1957; all 6 crew and passengers were killed including David F. McIntyre, the co-founder of Scottish Aviation. Photographer unknown, scanned from an original image from my collection.

Built in 1958 and exported to Iran at the end of the year. Here is when it would have returned to SAL for restoration as G-APMT for British United Airways who kept it until 1962 when it became 9L-LAC. Built in 1955 and sometime in 1959 end plates were installed for mineral survey work and it departed like that to the USA in mid-1959 (according to Air-Britain). This later photo suggests that it returned to SAL, possibly for restoration to standard wing-tips, prior to sale in Mexico (as XC-CUJ) where it was photographed without the plates. Later, when N9965F, it was wrecked in a landing while hauling fish at Pilot Point/AK on 31 August 1979.

Seen parked outside Scottish Aviation's Prestwick factory, where it was designed and built. First flew in 1959 as G-APRS of Scottish Aviation Ltd who charted it out, mainly for work overseas. Entered RAF service as XT610, a Mark CC.2, in 1965, with the Empire Test Pilots School at Boscombe Down. Returned to civil life in 1975 with Fight One at Staverton, being used on mapping survey duties. Initially with Atlantic Air Transport in 1993, took up a new role as a heritage aircraft, assuming its first registration as G-APRS but in ETPS colours. Scrapped in 2017.

The first of type for the RAF and it entered service in 1958. Here the photographer points out a machine-gun barrel protruding from behind the wing struts and just above the stub wing. This may have been to do with the trial installation of ordnance hard points underneath the stub wings, for A&AEE evaluation, but which were never adopted. The aircraft was wrecked when it struck rising terrain and crashed while supply dropping at Mount Meru, Tanzania on 2 March 1961.

Here just recently converted from a Series 1 aircraft. The name carried on the side was in anticipation of a sale to that company based in Milan, Italy. However this did not came about so was replaced by 'Scottish Aviation' for the Farnborough Air Show in September as here. Delivered to Australian Iron & Steel as VH-AIS in 1961 and still registered under different ownership in 2021.

Was not delivered as painted but went to the RAF as XT610 in 1965 then was registered as G-BCWF from 1975 to 1993 after which it reverted to G-APRS with Air Atlantique. Withdrawn from use in 2017 then transported by road on 9 July 2018 to Mains Farm, Stirling, Scotland for use as a camper. The CAA called it a Series 1 here which looks right, but later they quote Series 3, so it must have had an engine upgrade at some point.
