Eastern Airways 1978, Air Atlantique 1981, Harvest Air 1982, operating as sprayer for DoT. Janes Aviation 1988, Air Atlantique 1990, withdrawn Coventry past 1996. Yorkshire Air Museum 2001, restored and painted first as KG427, then as KN353, its original identity, in taxying condition. Seen here undergoing maintenance at Westcountry Aircraft Servicing Ltd.

Static display at airshow. At the time the slide was taken 50821 was assigned to Naval Weapons Center NAS China Lake. The aircraft later went on display at the National Naval Aviation Museum in Pensacola, FL.

K25 slide scan. Converted 1951 by Douglas to Super DC-3 prototype N30000 from a standard DC-3. Multiple owners, by 1986 mosquito control sprayer. Sold to Alaska 2003 and active until at least 2015 as N30TN with TransNorthern. Note spray gear under fuselage.

Originally built for USAAF as C-53D 42-68815. Modified with Garrett Air Research Maximizer Kit.

Built as USAAF C-53 41-20095. Owned and operated by the State of Ohio Department of Commerce from 1964 through 1977, then donated to the USAF Museum, where it remained until 1992. Seen here still with the State of Ohio flag on the tail. The aircraft later went to Vintage Wings of Washington, PA. for a complete restoration back to a C-53 configuration.

Built as USAAF C-53 41-20092. Used by the Doobie Brothers Band circa late 1970s through 1990 to transport their road crew and sound equipment to concert sites. By 2004 it was reported located in San Juan Puerto Rico in derelict condition, and by June 2017 the FAA registration had been cancelled.

In storage; registered to ATC Inc; last operated by Libyan Aviation Company (LAVCO); never flew again and later scrapped at Hal Far.

K25 slide scan. Built 1944. Civilianized as N60 for FAA 1960. US Department of Agriculture N68 1966, reregistered N68AH and N229GB 1977, retired by 1979. Acquired by Mid Atlantic Air Museum in 1981 and painstakingly restored to its original identity as R4D-6 50819 of Naval Air Transport Service VR-2.

Built under USAAF contract as 43-49417 and delivered new to USN with Bureau Number 50806. Redesignated C-47J in 1962. Transferred to the US Army Materiel Command (insignia on nose) in May 1967 still using BuNo. 50806. The a/c was assigned by AMC to the Army Aeronautical Depot Maintenance Center at Corpus Christi, TX.

Built under USAAF contract as 43-49137 and delivered new to USN as R4D-6 Bureau Number 50781. Redesignated C-47J in 1962. Transferred to US Army circa 1966-67 retaining USN Bureau Number. On 8 March 1973 50781 crashed shortly after take off from Ft. Bragg killing all 14 persons aboard, including 11 members of the US Army Golden Knights parachute team.

Originally built as a C-47B and converted into VC-47D in September 1954. The Chanute Aerospace Museum closed in 2015 and this a/c was one of several that were scrapped in 2019.

Ex N65162, falsely painted as USAAF "892953". Photographed at the Metro Tech Campus at Will Rogers Airport, Oklahoma City, allegedly preserved, but was not in good condition at the time. It was restored and displayed at the Midwest City Veterans Memorial in the Joe B. Barnes Regional Park in Midwest City, OK (GPS location: N35.46185 W97.37152) on 3 Dec 2017.

Although mot marked as such, this AC-47D was assigned to the 4th Air Commando Squadron. By 1968 the squadron was based at Phan Rang, Vietnam. In January 1970 this a/c was transferred to the Laotian Air Force via the Military Assistance Program. It was reportedly lost in Laos on 21 February 1973.
