Operated by VXN-8 Oceanographic Research Squadron as part of Project Magnet and with "Road Runner" artwork on its nose.

On display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center. Helldivers were the last dive-bombers in the U.S. Navy. This Helldiver never saw combat, having reached Guam before the war ended. It was assigned to VB-92 "Battling Beasts" aboard USS Lexington (CV-16) from Sept. to Dec. 1945. By Jan. 1946 the Helldiver was back in the USA, and after rotating through different squadrons was marked for preservation in 1948. It has been restored as a VB-92 aircraft, aided by surviving members of the squadron.

On display at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, National Air and Space Museum. The FB-5 was Boeing's first true carrier-borne fighter. This model saw service with VF-1 on USS Langley, VF-6B aboard USS Saratoga, VF-3B at San Diego and finally with Marine squadron VF-6M 'Red Devils'. Restoration of the aircraft was done by the USMC.

Remanufactured by Beech from T-7 42-56721 c/n 4340 to C-45G 51-11897 for the USAF in 1953. Later converted to an RC-45G and an RC-45H. To N87681 in 1963. To the Castle Air Museum in 1983 and marked as 44588. Markings changed to 11897 by 1998. A different aircraft is marked as 44588 at the March Air Museum.

Withdrawn from use in 1987.

Grumman G-23 preserved wearing the fake markings of a US Navy FF-1. It is in fact ex Nicaragua Air Force GN-3, delivered in the late 1930s. It was withdrawn from service in 1942 and ended up in a scrap yard. Rescued from there in 1962 by J.R. Sirmons and flown to the USA in 1966 as N2803J. Acquired by Grumman who restored it as seen here and donated it to the then US Naval Aviation Museum at Pensacola.

Withdrawn from use in 1996.

Pictured with VAQ 129, this Intruder was delivered to the Navy in 1977 and spent nearly all of it's service Based at NAS Whidbey. With various Electronic Warfare squadrons there until it's final posting to MCAS Cherry Point, NC with VMAQ-1 in 2008. It was struck off strength in 2011.

On display aboard USS Intrepid, which embarked Avengers during World War II. The -3E was lighter than the TBM-3 and had no ventral gun, resulting in increased max. speed of 276 mph and a better rate of climb. Unlike the TBM-3, it did not have a fully retractable tail hook. The type was fitted with an underwing rack to starboard for an AN/APS-4 radar pod. Below the aircraft is a Mark 13 aerial torpedo. This 3E with BuNo 53842 was taken on charge by the USN on 27 June 1945.

The AEW Tracer was a TF-1 (C-1A) airframe lengthened by 18 in. with a short middle fin to support the APS-82 radar. It had rearward-folding wings. One of 88 built, this "Willy Fudd" previously wore the code AF0101 of RVAW-110, the West Coast E-1B training squadron. Displayed on the deck of USS Intrepid, its tail code "AU" signifies this E-1B formed part of Anti Submarine Carrier Air Group CVSG-56. It wears the colors of VAW-121 "Griffins", created out of VAW-12 on 1 April 1967 to service East Coast E-1B requirements. VAW-121 was embarked on USS Intrepid in 1971 and was the last fleet E-1B squadron.

The National Museum of Naval Aviation has two N3N aircraft on display, with and without floats. This is the one with conventional undercarriage and it became N3NP after its service. This registration was cancelled in 1979 and it is now on display at this magnificent museum.

Arriving on Thursday from the USS Saratoga for Mildenhall's Annual Air Fete. According to Joe Baugher's excellent website, this Hornet was involved in a mid-air collision with an F-14 while operating from USS Saratoga in February 1994. The F-14 crashed, the F/A-18 landed with some damage.
